Losing Weight with Slimming World Week 29 to 31
Despite the fact that I haven’t written a post for the last 2 weeks, I am still losing weight with Slimming World.
There are two reasons for the lack of post. Firstly, poor Rex was diagnosed with chicken pox at the beginning of the Easter holidays. I wasn’t convinced however, and took him back to the doctors the following week where they confirmed that he had shingles. As a result, I didn’t make it to group that Monday as Ross and Grace were both away as well.
Last week I went for a very early morning weigh-in as it was Easter Monday and a Bank holiday. I got busy with work and decided to take another week off from posting.
I can’t really remember the week before last. What I do remember is that I found it very hard to stay on plan – although I mainly did and weighed early on Easter Monday to find no change in my weight from two weeks prior. I was pretty pleased with that!
Last week was hectic once again, but here is how I got on.

The food I ate
After a very up-and-down week at the start of the Easter holidays, I was very much back on it last week. That was after a little bit of off-plan for the Easter weekend.
On Good Friday, we packed a picnic and headed off for a bit of outside time. I am happy to say that I did away with the sandwiches and had skinless chicken legs and a packet of prawns, followed by some skinny popcorn. After a picnic in the bluebells at Blackbury Camp, we ventured into Beer for an ice cream. I was very relieved to see that fat-free frozen yoghurt was on the menu and I chose Mango and Passion Fruit flavour. It was delicious!.
I cooked a lovely beef roast dinner on the Easter Sunday and then we went to West Bay for a wonder around. I had chocolate and chilli sorbet this time. Once again, it tasted amazing.

As I said above, I went for my weigh-in first thing on Easter Monday and was relieved to see that I had stayed the same as the previous time I had weighed on 8th April.
On the Easter Monday, we went to a family fun day at Haselbury Mill. I had 4 slices of wood-burned pizza and a scoop of chocolate ice cream.
The rest of the week, I worked hard to stay on plan. We had a number of meals where the others had rice or pasta. I replaced that with a salad every time.

At the weekend, we had our friends John and Luci to stay because we were off to the Yeovil Beer Festival on Saturday evening to see Ross perform with his band, D-State.
Luci is well-versed with Slimming World but has been off-plan for a while now. I made sure that I looked after us all with Slimming World chilli on Friday night (Luci and I had courgetti instead of rice), SW pancakes on Saturday morning, SW vegetable soup for lunch and then I pre-cooked tandoori chicken prior to going out so that we had food for our return.
Whilst at the festival, I had two halves of sweet cider but made sure I did plenty of dancing to work it off again!
Luci took my motivation as her inspiration and returned home full of enthusiasm to get back on plan. I was really chuffed that I had helped.
On Sunday I was at a wedding fair so I pre-planned and took two bananas and a pack of sushi with me. In the evening, I had the rest of the soup I had made the previous day and a bit of kebab meat from what Ross had for his dinner.
Favourite Discoveries of the Week
I think that my biggest revelation was how good the frozen yoghurt tasted. I also bought a couple of packs of Rowntrees Fruit Pastille lollies (they are on special in Lidl at the moment!) as they are only 3 syns each and I absolutely love them! I am really looking forward to the fact that I can plan for the summer and what I class as treats aren’t going to undo all my hard work.
How I felt
Last week was SO much better than the week before. I was really determined to get a good weightloss on Monday so replacing rice and pasta – which I find affects my weight – with salads and vegetables was a great motivator for me. I didn’t do quite as much exercise as the previous weeks but I definitely have an increased stamina and feel far fitter than I have in years. There is no way I could have done all that dancing on Saturday night if I hadn’t started my exercise back up again.
Exercise
As I said above, my exercise was a little slower last week. I am still repeating week 3 of the Couch to 5k as I don’t feel ready to move on yet. Running really isn’t my favourite form of exercise so I will be looking to go back to doing Zumba at some point (I really enjoyed doing that last year).

I was really happy to get my Silver Body Magic award at this week’s meeting.
The Slimming World meeting
I had the biggest shock at this week’s meeting – but I will come to that shortly!
I was really pleased to see a 2lb weightloss this week. It is starting to dawn on me now that I know what sort of foods affect my weight and know what I have to eat less of, what I can have in moderation and what I can eat all of the time. Because I am now so close to target, Becs gave me the target members book to look through and decide which maintenance plan I wanted to follow.
After working out my average weightloss for the last 8 weeks (it stands at 1.2lbs per week at the moment), it is looking like route b for me right now. This means 2 health extras per day and 5-15 extra syns on 2 or 3 days of the week. This fits in with my plan really nicely as I am hoping to be able to relax a little on Fridays and Saturdays.
So, now to my shock. I have always thought that because my weekly losses are much less than many others in the group, that being Slimmer of the Week was never an option for me. How wrong am I?! Naomi and I regularly sit next to each other and I was just tuning out as Becs announced the names. It turned out to be both Naomi and I who shared it!

Slimmer of the Week gets a basket of food which each member contributes to weekly by bringing in an item of free food. Naomi and I evenly shared what was in the basket and I am pleased to see that I have the items to make some spinach cannelloni so that is on my meal plan this week.
Weigh-in
Weight at the beginning of my diet: 195.5lbs
Weight last time: 160.5lbs
Target weight: 152lbs
Weight this week: 158.5lbs
Loss for the week: 2lbs
Total Loss so far: 37lbs
Current BMI: 23.4
My thoughts
I am so happy with how this is all going. I am quite mindful that the remaining 6.5lbs will be tricky to shift but something that Becs said to me last week has stuck with me.
I have wanted to get to target by my birthday (18th May) but she told me not to fixate on a date as you are putting undue pressure on yourself and will concentrate too hard on losing instead of relaxing and going with the flow. I did far less fixating last week and was surprised at how much I managed to lose.
My goals for the next week
I am hoping for more of the same as last week! It is another Bank Holiday weekend but I will be going into it with a plan for a Sunday Roast and armed with my Fruit Pastille lollies. Everything crossed for another 2lbs!
