Losing Weight with Slimming World Week 13
I really felt the full force of Christmas when I was on the Slimming World plan last week. I was determined not to be defeated though as I was looking forward to a few days off plan for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. It helped that we had a special Christmas meal out for the group at Winyards Gap, not far from home. The chef knew we were a Slimming World group and catered for us with this in mind.
This week’s weigh in was a day early for me. Becs was running the group on Christmas Eve but I wanted to spend this with my family. I went to the Sunday morning weigh in instead and without any expectations at all. Here is how I got on.

The Slimming World food I ate
Once again I meal-planned, although with me out for two nights and Ross out for another, plus a meal booked for the Sunday evening, I didn’t have to worry too much!
I had a couple of Slimming World ready meals whilst Ross and Grace catered for themselves. I tend to cook separately for Rex and this all went fine too. The one I was really looking forward to though, was the Christmas meal last Wednesday evening.
This is what I had.
Smoked Salmon with cucumber and micro fennel salad, oven dried vegetable crisps and wasabi natural yoghurt.

Slow-cooked Feather Blade of Beef, with wild mushroom, soya bean bourginon, puree of heritage potatoes & ale braising juices.

Tiramisu

Coffee and mince pie.
It was all absolutely delicious. I could have eaten it all over again!
On Friday I decided to make the Salmon en Croute from the Festive Feasts book. This was because Ross was out and Grace and I were going to watch Love Actually together. I wanted to have something special without feeling guilty!

On Saturday, I was out all day photographing a wedding. The lovely people at the restaurant where the reception was taking place were going to make me a toastie with chips. Instead, I asked if they would be kind enough to prepare a salad for me – which they did, with added crab meat.
I still have around 5 sachets left from my advent calendar so I shall save these for January when I need a bit of a boost.
Favourite Discoveries of the Week
The Salmon en Croute and the fact that I can go out for a meal and not feel guilty for doing so!
How I felt
I felt fine. Really good about myself. I ordered a few more new clothes and decided to not put quite so much pressure on myself!
Exercise
I was still running around doing things – so I am taking that as my exercise once again. I am looking forward to the exercise plan now for next month.
The Slimming World meeting
It felt a little strange going to the meeting on a Sunday morning but it was lovely and festive in Crewkerne and there was a great atmosphere. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood.
We checked in and received our brand new, 50th anniversary packs. As I stepped on the scales, I had everything crossed. 3 lbs off! I was thrilled and, not ashamed to admit, I shed a few tears! I had gained my stone and a half award. A brilliant end to the year.
I wasn’t going to stay to group, but I was so happy and I wanted to share it with the others and be happy for them too. There were only 6 of us in the end and Becs took us through our new packs. On first glance, the best change is that all the speed foods are now in a separate book. I shall definitely be making use of that in January.
We all said how long we were going to be off-plan for. I confirmed 3 days. In fact, it has been slightly longer than that. I have to say that I am feeling rotten – but more of that in my next post!
Weigh-in
Weight at the beginning of my diet: 195.5lbs
Weight last week: 175.5lbs
Target weight: 156lbs
Weight this week: 172lbs
Loss for the week: 3lbs
Total Loss so far: 23.5lbs
My thoughts
A fantastic end to the year. I am SO happy. The difference compared to this time last year is worlds apart.
My goals for the next two weeks
I have no set expectations for the next two weeks. I want to try and get through relatively unscathed and, where I have had a few days off plan, I certainly intend to make up for it by having free and easy food days. I am realistic enough to know that I am likely to see a gain at my next weigh in but, as long as I am prepared to accept that then it is all good.
My next update will be the week after next, so in the meantime, I hope you enjoy what is left of Christmas and Happy New Year!
