When it comes to holidaying with kids, what is supposed to be a time where you let your hair down and cut loose, instead turns into a time of struggle, planning, and exceptional effort. Getting everyone in the car, to the airport, and safely tucked into the unfamiliar beds of a hotel is often a difficult and frustrating task. That’s what makes the alternative of caravans and park homes so attractive to so many people. If you are still in the planning stages, and want a holiday option that won’t leave you more tired than when you left, there’s a lot of advantage to a luxury caravan holidaying experience, especially when you’ve got kids.

A Real Home Away from Home

A hotel is a curious place. The very close proximity of every other family, couple, travelling business person, or lone tourist, makes you very subconsciously that this is not really your space. Not so with a caravan. You have a very clearly defined space, and a pleasant gap of the outdoors between you and your next door neighbour. Not only does this allow you to really feel in a space that belongs to you and you alone, but it also gives you the freedom to modify, alter, and generally restructure things to fit your wishes. If it’s your own caravan, it’s your own property so go nuts, and if it’s a park home then space is such that you can spread out in whatever way suits you best. Trying to control your kids to keep them from bothering other hotel guests, and containing their energies within the confines of a tiny room is always a challenge. With a caravan holiday, you really have space and freedom to let your kids enjoy themselves.

No Stress of Airports

While some people take their caravan internationally, many stay within the UK and when you go to an airport or a ferry terminal you can see why. The British may be famous for knowing how to queue properly, but that doesn’t mean we enjoy it or seek it out. With a caravan, your space is booked. You place is ready. Come and settle in, settle down, and don’t worry about the passports!

Nature is nearby

One of the really great things about caravan holidays, especially when contrasted against hotels, is the easy reach of the wonders of the natural world. Because of the vast space that caravans parks take up, and the fact that they generally cannot work in a multi-story fashion, means they need to place themselves deep into the countryside. This gives a great opportunity for woodland walks, riverside adventure trekking, and all kinds of other great nature-based experiences that children so often lack when they live in the suburbs, and they definitely miss out on in urban centre hotel trips.

Family focus

Hotels need to be all things to all people, as do so many other types of holiday. Businesspeople need stopover places before the big presentation. Adventurous types need somewhere to put their heads after a day of wandering. Couples need a romantic rendezvous site, and convention attendees need somewhere to rearrange their costumes or other wardrobes. Families can squeeze their way in here, but it is very much a squeeze. It is not a space built for them. With a caravan park, the focus is much more on families. What they need, how much space they can get, and the kinds of facilities on offer.

When you plan a holiday with children, it is of course a very different proposition from when you are headed out alone, or just as a couple. Make sure you take advantage of everything you possibly can to make your time together truly your own. For this, a caravan is the very best option.
