Losing Weight with Slimming World Week 19

Slimming World Curried Chicken and Cauliflower

I found staying on the Slimming World plan last week pretty tricky. I was still recovering from the lurgy. Thankfully we had advanced warning of the snow, so Ross went out and stocked up on (the right) supplies. I found it hard to stay off the chocolate. Plus, Ross had a friend to stay from Scotland over the weekend but, he is a vegetarian so it was good to be able to cater for him and us at the same time.

Here is my week 19.

The Slimming World food I ate

I don’t know why, but I was particularly hungry last week. I think it was mainly down to the cold weather and the fact that I couldn’t really go anywhere. Especially when the snow arrived!

I decided to try some new things in the Take 5 book. This included Mexican Chicken Stew, Cajun Pork Meatballs – which I added broccoli to, and the Curried Chicken and Cauliflower. I have to say that the chicken and cauliflower is most definitely one of my new favourites. It was absolutely delicious. We also had a Slimming World chilli.

Slimming World Cajun Pork Balls

On top of this, because we had Ross’ friend staying, Saturday became vegetarian day. I made some carrot and lentil soup for lunch and, for dinner, we had the lasagne and I replaced the beef mince with soya mince. I added a side salad with it too. We all absolutely loved it. It was delicious!

We then had cajun pork and apple burgers for tea on Sunday. Ross and Grace had chips but I had a big side salad with mine.

Favourite Discoveries of the Week

One of the things I did try and mix up a bit this last week was the breakfasts. I had been having a lot of porridge and it was becoming a bit boring.

Overnight Oats with Blueberries

I discovered overnight oats. I layered some porridge oats with a raspberry light and free yoghurt (half a syn) and added in some blueberries. It was delicious!

I also decided to use my crepe maker and cook some oat pancakes (a Pinch of Nom recipe) and they were absolutely delicious! We had them 3 days running with some bacon medallions, a little maple syrup and some blueberries – all for 1 syn per portion, and that was only because of the syrup.

How I felt

All I wanted this last week was chocolate. I did have a little as I discovered some I got for Christmas in my desk drawer. Probably didn’t help that I had a bit each evening! My total weakness!!

Exercise

So, you guessed it. The exercise didn’t happen. Again! I did do some walking into town a few times but that was it. Also, my chest is still recovering but that really is no excuse. I am not going to promise anything for this coming week and so anything that does happen will be a bonus!

The Slimming World meeting

As it is Free Food February, we had a free food taster evening. I made a potato, bacon, tomato and mushroom salad to take along and Grace came with me.  There were lots of other tasty dishes there as well including some vegetable pakoras, scotch eggs, meatballs, rice, kebabs and fruit.

I had a feeling that this week wouldn’t really be anything special. I did have a feeling I might gain. Below, the result speaks for itself really.

Weigh-in

Weight at the beginning of my diet: 195.5lbs

Weight last week: 170lbs

Target weight: 156lbs

Weight this week: 170lbs

Loss for the week:  0lbs

Total Loss so far: 25.5lbs

My thoughts

I had a feeling that last week wasn’t going to be great. But I think we all have our ‘off’ weeks. The fact that I was static really was about right for me. It was a complete relief that I didn’t have a gain if I am honest. I really do need to pull my finger out next week!

My goals for the next week

Getting away from the chocolate and unnecessary syns and making it all about the free food! I am definitely going to be making more soup. I found it really filling and easy to eat.
