Losing Weight with Slimming World Week 33 to 35
It has been a while since I wrote about losing weight with Slimming World. I bet those of you who read my updates are wondering how I am getting on with my weight loss? Well, I can safely say that I have not fallen off the wagon – quite the opposite in fact – it is just that life has been hectic with a toddler, tween, photography work (yay!), a birthday and a couple of much-needed breaks.
I did weigh in back on 13th May and I had put on half a pound. No major biggie – and I didn’t have time to write an update that week
Taking all the above into account, I have slightly deviated from the plan but I certainly have not destroyed all my hard work. Read on to find out more!

The food I ate
Crikey, where do I start here?!
So, on the whole I have stayed on plan. During the week of 13th May, Ross and I went away to a B&B in Alton, Hampshire. We were originally due to have a 5 course dining experience in London on the Tuesday but, due to train cancellations because of a fatality, we had to make other plans.
Instead, we sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed a bottle of Strawberry Gin with some lemon-infused sparking water. We then used a Groupon voucher for Pizza Express. I chose a starter of crab risotto balls followed by a Padana Leggera (goats cheese and caramelised onion pizza with just a ring of crust and salad in the middle).
At the B&B, we had breakfast included. I chose smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on the first day with some toast. There was also a beautiful mixed bowl of raspberries, blueberries and strawberries on offer. How could I refuse?! For the second day, I chose a full English with just one sausage instead of 2 and poached eggs instead of fried. The great thing was that this was beautifully cooked. No greasy fry-up here!
On the Wednesday, after seeing the musical ‘The Man of La Mancha’ (starring Kelsey Grammer), Ross and I shared a review meal at Royal China in Baker Street.
Again, I feel we chose wisely. I had some dim sum and dumplings to start together with some smoked chicken, some garlic steak, honey roast pork and chicken with black bean and noodles together with egg fried rice. We also shared a half bottle of warm saki.
The following weekend I was in Wales at The Flea Retreat. When bloggers have a get-together, it is the done thing to have cake – and this certainly wasn’t lacking! There were cakes of all kinds including red velvet, carrot cake, chocolate cake and all types of cream cakes. I took a huge chocolate tray bake for my birthday – which didn’t get touched and I brought home again. There was also chocolate chip cookies aplenty!

The food on the first night was chicken chorizo with rice and the second night was chicken dijon with rice. As it was my birthday on the Saturday, I chose a lovely big bit of carrot cake at morning break. I have to admit that I could not manage it all! Lunch was soup (which I was really grateful for!) and breakfast was largely fruit (again, grateful). I also partook in a glass of Prosecco and 2 cans of rhubarb and ginger gin.
When I got home on the Sunday, I celebrated my birthday with my family with a couple of glasses of wine. I had some chicken drumsticks and salad, half a scone with clotted cream – which Grace had made at school the previous week and some chocolate cake.
Last week I was back on plan. I was thrilled to get the Pinch of Nom book for my birthday and tried the first two recipes – Creamy Garlic Chicken and Pizza-stuffed chicken.

I also had the smoked salmon and broccoli crustless quiche.
I was photographing a wedding on the Friday and then their reception on the Saturday night.
The guests were having Afternoon Tea on the Friday and I was offered one. I opted out and just had a smoked salmon sandwich (this was at The Bath Priory Hotel and much more than just a sandwich!). The following day I had some food again at the wedding reception. There were hog roast rolls on offer. I had some pork but no roll, some cheese, salad and a bit of crackling. I also took some cake home, courtesy of the bride and groom.
On Sunday, Ross was performing with his band, D-State, at the Crewkerne Cider and Gin Festival. I was photographing the event so was running around a lot. I did have a couple of gin and tonics.
Favourite Discoveries
I think that my favourite discovery to date is finding myself not wanting to eat ALL the cake – or anything else, in fact.
I now know my limits. I chose what I eat carefully. I think about the effect it will have on my body and decide whether it is worth eating. For example, there have been a couple of times where I wasn’t enjoying what I was eating (mainly different types of cake) or felt full so, I stopped.
In the past I would have felt like I needed to finish it – no matter what. Now I feel like I am wasting my syns if I don’t like it but still finish it.
I have definitely changed the way I eat.
How I felt
I can’t believe how much better I feel. I can move, run, jump and have SO much more energy. Aside from the sleep deprivation caused by a toddler, I have not felt this good in a very long time.
Exercise
I haven’t actually had a chance to do a proper exercise routine but all the running around I am doing makes up for that in abundance!
Whilst I was in Wales, we went for a walk down to a waterfall. The climb back up was huge! In the past I would have struggled but this was a fairly easy job for me.

I needed a lot of stamina for all the photography work I had at the weekend – and I had plenty of it!
The Slimming World meeting
I just got weighed the week before last. Last week I didn’t go to my meeting so it was lovely to be back – despite the fact that I had to take the kids with me!
There were a couple of new faces and it really took me back to the beginning of my journey. It was also great to see some familiar faces and find out how they were getting on. I had really missed everyone.
Becs gave us all a page of the latest Slimming World magazine and I found out a few things I didn’t know in the process.
At the beginning, when I stepped on the scales, I had expected some loss but not as much as I got! Take a look below!
Weigh-in
Weight at the beginning of my diet: 195.5lbs
Weight last time: 156.5lbs
Target weight: 152lbs
Weight this week: 154lbs
Loss for the 2 weeks: 2.5lbs
Total Loss so far: 41.5lbs
Current BMI: 22.7
My thoughts
It really does help to see that, despite having a few days where I did what I want, I can still lose weight. I feel like I have this all under control now!
My goals for the next week
I doubt that I will meet target next week with another 2lb loss but I am hoping for at least half a pound to get my 3 stone award.
