Do a Quick Declutter
For moving houses, the first step is to plan. Designate a few hours to go through your belongings and sort them out into a must pack and a donation pile. This will give you a clear idea of what to pack and what to leave behind.

Pack Room to Room
You can find tons of moving tips out there, but the one we swear by is packing supplies room by room. It’s essential if you’re using removal companies for the move. Before you get started, stock up on a bunch of cardboard boxes, bubble wrap sheets, sheets for covering your precious furniture and a bundle of the good old duct tape.

-
Bedroom
Start by breaking down the beds, and storing the components together for easy transportation later. Next, you can pack the bedding and pillows in cardboard boxes or plastic wrap, label them and put them together. For your precious formal clothing, we recommend investing in a wardrobe carton so you can simply unpack them at your destination. As far as makeup, jewelry and other belongings go, a plain old cardboard box is just fine. Just label them person to person.
-
Bathroom
Well a bathroom is relatively easier to pack, just label a separate box of toiletries to store your shampoo, toothpaste, shower products and towels, and you are done.
-
Kitchen
Depending on how high maintenance you are in the kitchen, this can easily be the most light or the most frustrating packing of all. Start with your refrigerator, defrost at least 2 days prior to packing, and pack your food items accordingly. Next come the dishes and glassware across the kitchen. Stack your plates in a cardboard box in sets, if you have delicate cutlery or china dishes, it’s good to pack them individually or with padding for added protection. For glassware, try to pack the in section, if no sections, pack individually or with padding to avoid breakage.

Living Room
Start with the bigger items first, couches, sofas and chairs should be packed delicately to avoid any unnecessary damage. Next for the TV, shelves, stands, speakers, always try to use the original packaging for storage. If that isn’t available, go for covering them with sheets or towels, then store in wide faced boxes with extra padding. Same goes for mirrors and art work. For miscellaneous paper record, such as files, medical records and important documents, it’s good to store them all in a box, seal shut and label tight. Always keep an eye during and after the move on this box.
