Refurbishing Your House Ready for Winter
Judging by the temperature outside it has certainly turned into that time of the year where everyone has started to stay indoors more following the scorching summer we have just had.
As a result, this is usually the time of year when you start to realise all the little things you don’t like and want to change about your house. October is the busiest month for many furniture, kitchen and flooring companies as Google trends suggest that there is a massive increase in the search terms that relate to these topic areas. However, with Christmas approaching, spending large amounts of money on refurbishing your house is the last thing you want to do. So here is a quick guide how you can cut some costs when refurbishing your house, whilst following all the winter trends.

The cheapest flooring options
Look down and make sure you are happy with what you are standing on. Are you happy with your flooring and is it winter ready?
Installing a new floor can change the appearance of a room and should always be the first place to start. There is nothing worse than purchasing a new sofa and then having to uninstall it because you are wanting to lay a new style of flooring.
Now the obvious choice of flooring for the winter months is carpet, however this is not always the cheapest option, especially if you are wanting something of high quality. Laminate flooring has become a very popular product over recent years and this trend is set to continue. Laminate flooring brands have invested highly to increase the quality of products and laminate now feels incredibly realistic. Laminate flooring now rivals the real wood market as a cheaper alternative. If you are worried about this type of flooring feeling cold, then adding rugs throughout the house will trap the warmth and have the same effect as carpet.
Furniture decisions
If you have a leather sofa then you could find yourself being very cold during winter months. One massive trend heading into winter is fabric corner sofas and now is your chance to buy your dream sofa at a low cost.
It may seem like sofa companies seem to have never ending sales, however their end of summer sale really does have some fantastic deals. You can seriously save yourself a lot of money. The cheaper alternative would be to purchase blankets, the fluffy ones that are oh so comfy. You and your family would be able to get wrapped up and have cosy nights, in front of the TV.
A new duvet
Finally stepping off your laminate flooring and into your bed can only be made even better with a brand-new Winter duvet. If you are organised, then the best time to purchase a thick Winter duvet is during Spring. The sales usually begin before the new stock of Summer duvets arrive. If you have to purchase the duvet during Winter then it will work out more expensive, however, it is better not to compromise a good night’s sleep.
