Losing Weight with Slimming World Week 21

This week I decided to take a fresh look at my Slimming World journey and change things up a bit. After last weeks gain, I was more determined than ever to make this work. I had to look at the bigger picture to see how far I had come and not give up – more of that later in my post.
Here is my week.

The Slimming World food I ate
As I said above, I decided to change things up a bit, so we started the week with Chinese food. I hadn’t really realised just how tasty teriyaki sauce could be and I used it two nights in a row on a chicken stir fry. The first night I included mushrooms as Ross was away (he doesn’t eat them!), the second night was a similar dish.
On Wednesday evening, Ross had been craving macaroni cheese so I made my own Slimming World version using fromage frais, reduced fat cheese and included some turkey, bacon and peas. It was delicious!

As Thursday was Valentine’s Day, I made a roast chicken dinner for just 1 syn. We had Slimming World onion gravy, roast potatoes, carrots and peas as well as bread sauce using my Healthy Extra on the bread. The syn value was because of the 4 vegetarian meatballs I had which doubled as stuffing. This was the 1 syn!

For pudding I made a Chocolate Mug cake thanks to a recipe from Fat Girl Skinny. It was originally 2 syns but I added half a square of chocolate which took it to just under 4 syns. Then we had hot chocolate afterwards. Not bad for less than 8 syns!
As Grace was away on Friday night, Ross and I had a syn-free beef madras which I made up myself. One of the things that Slimming World has done has reignited my love of cooking. It was great to be able to put together a dish which I knew would be fine for us both to eat, spicy enough to enjoy and tasty too! I will share the recipe later in the week.
On Saturday night, I went out to watch Ross’ band play, take some photographs of the event (see photo of Ross below!) and have a bit of a dance. Because of this, I had a jacket potato at lunch time and stuck to sushi in the evening. I wasn’t drinking and just had diet coke.
On Sunday lunch time, Ross and I went out with his parents together with Rex and we went to the Windwhistle pub. They do a fantastic carvery there where I really stocked up on vegetables – as well as sharing with Rex. It was delicious!
Favourite Discoveries of the Week
Aside from the chocolate mug cake and the fantastic macaroni cheese, I also took a tip from last week’s meeting and have been enjoying half a mashed banana mixed with two eggs and cooked in the omelette pan. This meant that I had a cross between a pancake and an omelette and it is delicious!
How I felt
I have felt so much better over the past week. I don’t think I had realised before (apologies to any men reading this) but I have been all over the place with my cycle and don’t think the water retention helped last week.
Because I feel better in my own skin, it has helped to boost my confidence levels. Last week, after the meeting and in order to stay focused, I measured myself to find that I had lost 5 inches on both my hips and waist. That is a lot!
I went out and bought some new clothes. Well, I say new. I went to a couple of second hand shops in town where I bought a pair of long boots for £8.50 and then one top and two skirts for £7.50. One of the skirts is Per Una and looks brand new. They are all size 12 though and fit beautifully.
Going out on Saturday night felt great. I haven’t felt like that in a long time. I was getting loads of compliments about my weightloss and felt amazing. Not only did I really enjoy being able to move around a lot to take photos but I had a fantastic time dancing too!
Exercise
The exercise has definitely started to improve. Use of the kettle bells continues along with the Fit in Five and some sit-ups. Plus, I have walked into town a number of times and, of course, all that dancing and moving around on Saturday.
This next week, I really want to get into a better routine though.
The Slimming World meeting
After last week, I stepped onto the scales with some trepidation. I had to double check on my loss but as soon as it was confirmed that it was 3lbs, I let out a cheer. Getting that 2 stone award felt amazing – and now, I am inside normal BMI at 24.7.

We had a great chat in group about how to prepare mashed potato, amongst other things.
When it came to my turn to talk, I mentioned that I will be looking at resetting my target. I have now made that decision and you can see below in my goals what I have decided to do.
Weigh-in
Weight at the beginning of my diet: 195.5lbs
Weight last week: 170.5lbs
Target weight: 156lbs
Weight this week: 167.5lbs
Loss for the week: 3lbs
Total Loss so far: 28.0lbs
My thoughts
This 2 stone loss has really given me yet another boost. I feel a million times better. I look so different now to when I started (I have a photo of when I started, which I will share when I get to target!).
At the moment I am losing at an average rate of 1.33lbs a week. This is since 24th September. I am now looking to reach my target weight by my birthday on 18th May and believe that this is fully achievable. All I need to do is make sure that I am moving a bit more!
My goals for the next week
This week I am looking for a 2lb loss and going to try my best to get it. I have decided to reset my target from 156lbs to 152lbs. I believe that extra 4lb loss will put me exactly where I want to be, plus it will give me the added boost of the 3 stone loss award.
