Losing Weight with Slimming World Week 7 & 8

So, the Slimming World plan continues and, despite the week off, I mainly stuck to it. As we were on holiday at Center Parcs, I made sure that I meal-planned and chose food that would suit everyone. The recipes I took had all been tried and tested, so I knew everyone would be happy. But would I still lose weight despite a few treats? Read on!

The Slimming World food I ate

This week’s post is a little different in the fact that I am covering two weeks rather than one. Because we were away last week, I obviously couldn’t go and be weighed but, what I will say about week 7 is that it was hectic! I was trying to finish all my gift guides before we went away – so eating was rather a low priority for me. I managed to keep up with the exercise though!

What I will do is fill you in on last week as I think it helps to show how I coped with a holiday and treating myself.

As I said above, the recipes I took with me had already been tried by my family – apart from Ross’ parents who took it on our say so!

So, the meals I planned for were Chicken Dopiaza, Slow-cooked Gammon in Cider and Beef Lasagne. We agreed to have a takeaway from the Center Parcs Dining Out service on the last night. To make sure I stayed on plan as much as possible, I chose Teriyaki Salmon, Udon noodles and vegetables for my takeaway meal. It was delicious!

Whilst Ross and his dad got the lodge sorted, Ross’ mum, Grace, Rex and I paid a visit to Tesco to pick up everything we needed. I made sure I had fruit, porridge for breakfast and plenty of diet coke.

Lunchtimes were jacket potatoes, sandwiches (I had egg, bacon and tomatoes on that day) and leftovers from the evening meals.

Treats: One scoop of Kellys Cornish Vanilla Ice scream per day for 3 days, 2 rum and diet cokes for 3 days, 1 glass of wine and 2 skinny vanilla lattes from Starbucks (sugar-free syrup). I was also sent some Chalkdown Cider to try so I had a glass of that.

When we got back from Center Parcs I stuck to vegetable stir-frys for evening meals and roasted peppers for lunch.

Favourite Discoveries of the Week

I had porridge with blueberries on a couple of times last week and I loved it! Definitely one of my new favourite breakfasts! Also, the roasted sweet peppers for lunch were delicious! I simply cut them in half, sprinkled them with a small amount of cheese and put them in the over for 20 minutes.

Chalkdown Cider is a great idea for an alcoholic drink if you are on any kind of diet. It is a handcrafted, sparkling cider, made using exactly the same techniques as Champagne but as the ABV is only 8.4% it is a lower alcohol drink, a great alternative to the usual champagne or prosecco and really helpful if you are on a weightloss plan.

Earlier this year, Chalkdown scooped one of the top trophies at the International Cider Challenge 2018 (for the second year running), which just shows the quality.

How I felt

The week before last was manic – I cannot remember much including how I felt! But I do know that I was rather stressed and didn’t really eat that much, especially when I knew we were going away the following week.

The week we were away, I felt great! I have to admit that when I did have more food than usual, I felt really full. Also, after each ice cream I felt quite uncomfortable. That doesn’t change the fact that I enjoyed it though!

Exercise

Unfortunately, my FitBit decided to give up on me last week. The battery isn’t charging and I am not sure what is wrong with it. I am currently charging the Polar Loop 2 which I have had sitting in the drawer for some time and I am going to give that a go instead.

I do know that the week before last I did quite a few walks despite being busy. It is important to make time for exercise as I think it helps me to both sleep and focus better.

I always feel that Center Parcs is a great place to go if you don’t want to just sit on your backside the whole holiday! We did a lot of walking to and from The Village Square and the Plaza and around both areas. I also went swimming, played short tennis, went for a woodland walk for 2 and a half hours at 6.30am on Thursday morning and went line dancing with Grace the same day! It was all a far cry from how hard I found it last year (something to do with a 4 month old!).

As a result, I am pleased to say that I have done more than 45 minutes worth of activity every week for the last 4 and received my bronze Body Magic award last night.

The Eighth Slimming World meeting

It was great to be back! I did have to take Grace and Rex with me as Ross was away on business but they were really good as usual.

Lots of lovely people asked how my holiday went and I felt very supported as I mounted the scales.

I was gunning for my 1 Stone award but, as with my half stone award, I fell half a pound short. But, I am not going to beat myself up though. I still lost weight despite my holiday and, for that, I am very pleased!

We spoke about booking for a Slimming World Christmas meal – which I shall be going to – and I brought some baked beans for the slimmer of the week basket.
