Slimming World Fast Forward – Day 6

Day 6 on Slimming World Fast Forward

On Monday 8th June, I started the Slimming World Fast Forward programme. I am now on day 6. I made it to the penultimate day! As much as I have found it hard, I am also very pleased I stayed the course and am nervited (a phrase I learned on my training!) meaning both nervous and excited about weigh in on Monday morning.

WHAT IS SLIMMING WORLD FAST FORWARD?

Slimming World say that Fast Forward is a slimmer’s equivalent of a strait-jacket. For those periods when we are stuck or feel like rebelling. Sometimes, a week doing this will help.

The plan is carefully designed by top experts in the field of weight loss and nutrition. It is healthy and very effective and, as a Consultant, we have the tools to personalise the plan for the member by using a calculation which takes into account your metabolic rate and activity level so that you are given the correct number of units per day for your food allowance.

Once your Total Daily Unit allowance has been calculated, you can include a salad or vegetable unit each day for free and then choose from the Light Meal, Main Meal and Snacks section to make up your Total Daily Unit allowance. You get at least 18 per day. My calculations have given me 20.

It is even more strict in the fact that, if there are any minor parts to the meal that you don’t like, you can miss them out but you CANNOT add anything extra to the meal choices (in my opinion, just don’t choose them in the first place!).

You have to vary your choices and make sure you drink at least 500ml of water each morning, afternoon and evening. Snacks do include things like crumpets, jaffa cakes and even alcohol but even then, it is strict.

You have to make your choices at the beginning of the week and stick to them. This isn’t going to be easy!

Saturday 13TH JUNE

I have to admit that I was a little worried today. It isn’t a working day (as such!) for me but I had to finish the newsletter for my Slimming World members first thing. Ross kindly brought me up my breakfast. After that, I took the kids for a walk to Ninesprings Country Park in Yeovil. We had never been but it was beautiful. Definitely a place to frequent with my camera.

Once again, my snack units helped in the afternoon and I forfeited them for the evening after dinner – but that didn’t matter!

THE FOOD I ATE

BREAKFAST

Bacon sandwich made with grilled, lean medallions and 2 slices of 400g wholemeal bread.

LUNCH

These items aren’t officially on the Fast Forward plan but I based it on what I had learned from the previous days. This is because we had run out of everything else and aren’t due to have a shop delivered for a couple of weeks. This included 100g of chicken breast, 3 seafood sticks, 1 spoon of sweetcorn, lettuce and cucumber with balsamic vinegar.

DINNER

A chilli cooked with one onion, 50g of lean mince, 100g chopped tomatoes, 2 heaped tablespoons of cannellini beans (run out of everything else!), garlic, chilli powder and smoked paprika, 50g rice (weighed when uncooked) and my free salad unit of cucumber and lettuce with balsamic vinegar.

SNACKS

1 apple with 15g danish blue cheese.

DRINKS

3 cups of black coffee, 2 pints of water, 2 glasses of diet lemonade

HOW I FELT

The penultimate day! I am so pleased to have made it this far. Ross and I are continuously discussing how we are going to move forward from here. We don’t want to undo all the hard work we have put in.

I was a bit concerned about it being a Saturday and a change in routine from the weekdays. It was a bit tricky on Saturday afternoon but at least I knew how to handle it with the snack situation.

I drank more water. Yay!

Come back tomorrow for my weigh in!

EXERCISE

One and a half hours of walking around Ninesprings Country Park.

WEIGH-IN

Weight at the beginning of my Fast Forward week: 164lbs

My Target Weight: 152lbs
