Shine – Day 30, the Final Day of National Poetry Writing Month #NaPoWriMo

I made it! The very last day of National Poetry Writing Month. I wrote this poem a little earlier today and have only just gotten round to publishing it as I have been enjoying some precious time with Ross and Grace. I feel so lucky and often realise just how far I have come – especially when I see friends going through a difficult time. My last poem today is for you.

Shine

Move up and move on is what you must do
Don’t let any one step all over you
Hold on, keep going strong
Even though the road is long

Keep your head up, though the current’s strong
You’ve felt this way for far too long
One life, no second chances
Put it down to circumstances

Seek and you shall find my friend
Please know now this is not the end
It’s not failure, it’s his behaviour
Getting strong will be your saviour

It might not be the answer you were looking for
But when one closes there’s another open door
Dark cloud, a silver lining
Up above the sun’s still shining

I never thought my time would come
My chance to shine out in the sun
Doing fine, took back what’s mine
I left my old life far behind
