Prose For Thought – Questions

Thank you so much for all your wonderfully supportive comments for my poem ‘I Try’ last week. It really helped after some rather testing times for me.

For the last few weeks I’ve felt a bit out of sorts and detached from my love of poetry, mainly because I have not taken my time to read it all properly. This week however, I shall be on a train to London and spending about two and a half hours travelling so what better way to spend my time (apart from writing all the blog posts I am behind on!) than reading everyone’s poems that link up to Prose For Thought?

This week I was inspired to video myself reading a poem. This has come about because, for the last two weeks, Stephanie at Storybramble has done this very brave and wonderful thing. It has brought her poetry to life and when the words are spoken, it gives them such value and meaning. The one I am going to read is called ‘Questions’ and I wrote it just yesterday. I have decided not to explain it, just let the words speak for themselves.

  1. Fantastic! Oh I’m loving this new approach to poetry! What an added dimension it gives your words. I thought the same with Stephanie’s recording. I’m all for this – maybe #Prose4T could do a video special?? Lovely tone you’ve adopted for your reading Vicki, well done xx

  2. BAM nailed it. Your video gives your poem tremendous impact! I can see this becoming a thing. “The truth is in our actions, and not the words we say”. Very true, and said with beautiful words. 🙂

  3. Aw Vicky, it sounds like you have spent too much time dwelling on things. Let them go. Be happy. I felt sad after watching this. A lovely idea to read them though. I think I’d look silly doing this! lol. But then I don’t publish many of my own poems, they are all under lock and key! Thanks for linking up to #WednesdayWords and for hosting next week! xx

  4. Love it Vicky! Yes, truth is in actions, not in words for sure!

  5. Very well done and very brave too. This is a strong poem, with powerful words – which work so well read out. It’s tough knowing someone in life who constantly says they have changed and refuses to accept any blame – whilst their actions leave so many questions. Wish you all the very best and this is exceptional x

  6. Yay!!! I am so pleased to see this! It is so interesting for me to see someone else do it. It really does bring the words to life more than I had imagined. It’s great. I feel really glad I pushed myself to make my films now because it has meant I got to see yours!

  7. Wow, so powerful Vicky! I love it. I think we should all challenge ourselves to do this – I think that words are much more powerful when you hear them. xx

  8. Well done for being brave – could never do this. You are right though – it’s so effective to hear the words being spoken to you. Fab poem – really enjoyed this one. As always very much in awe of those who write so well like you and some of the others who post here. Love this linky soooooooo much xx
