Talk to Someone in Lieu – Day 8 of National Poetry Writing Month #NaPoWriMo
My eighth poem for National Poetry Writing Month is ‘Talk to Someone in Lieu’
Talk to Someone in Lieu
Do unto others as you would to yourself
Is what I believe we should do
I treat people with a particular standard
I wish others would do the same too
I don’t ever want to be walked on again
I’ve had more than my share
Now I always stand up for myself
So cross me? No, don’t you dare
I want you to listen and hear when I speak
Please tune in to what I have to I say
I have started to give up on talking to you
And now I will just walk away
If you aren’t there for me, don’t have the time
Or turn things around to suit you
I’m not going to waste all my energy and breath
I’ll talk to someone in lieu

I particularly like the phrasing in the title, and the last line of course – and I like the way you saved it for the end.
Thank you so much, really pleased you like it 🙂 x
