Losing Weight With Slimming World Week 2

Last week I told you that I had started Slimming World in a bid to lose my baby weight (and more!). The first week was pretty straightforward and I always find any diet in the first week so full of expectation and determination before the boredom sets in or other things get in the way!

So, how did I fare on my second full week? Read on!

What food I ate

This time I did keep a food diary although I handed it in at the meeting last night and forgot to take a copy! I think it is a bit long-winded to share on here though, so I will just give you the highlights!

  • Breakfast – this time I mixed breakfast up a bit. I had scrambled egg, bacon medallions and beans again but, so that I didn’t get too bored, there were days where I had wholemeal toast or cereal. Either of these are allowed as one of your healthy choices.
  • Lunch – once again the jacket potatoes were a win! There were also days where I had the leftovers from the previous nights dinner – and Rex shared it with me.
  • Dinner – Slimming World ready meals, chicken tikka masala, beef lasagne.

I have continued to eat the HiFi bars which I bought at last week’s meeting. I had the salted caramel flavour and, at 2 syns, I find that they completely satisfy any sweet cravings. I bought the carrot cake and the dark chocolate mint at last nights meeting. I have already tried the carrot cake and it one of my new favourite things!

One of my favourite discoveries of the week are Kiwi berries. They are amazingly good. I also found some delicious blackberries at Tesco. Normally I find them far too bitter but these were delicious. So these, mixed up with grapes, will definitely be a staple for my sweet tooth!

I cooked the beef lasagne and the tikka masala using the takeaway feast recipe booklet which came with this month’s Slimming World. My goodness they tasted good! Even better than any shop bought one. Ross told me that the lasagne was one of the best he has ever had and, if I can carry on having tikka masala like that, then I will be extremely happy!

On Friday I went to a friend’s for lunch. I had told her in advance that I was on Slimming World and she was really considerate. She went shopping and got jacket potatoes which we had with beans and salad.

We were due to go out for lunch with Ross’ family but due to a couple of them being poorly we had to postpone it. I did look at the menu in advance to make sure that there was something I could have and, thankfully, there was a grilled chicken salad which I would have had with either mediterranean couscous or lime and coriander rice.

How I felt

Overall, I felt fine. I really enjoyed the meal planning and was so chuffed that the rest of my family loved the food too. Even Ross lost weight last week as a result of our eating better.

I did have a dip last Tuesday and Wednesday and felt really rubbish – and very hungry. I soon realised that it was my period (of sorts!) that was turning up – although, since having Rex, my cycle has been all over the place!

If temptation does start beckoning then I won’t deny myself completely, and that is the beauty of Slimming World. Grace bought a peanut butter oreo chocolate bar at the weekend and I had one square when we had our girly night on Saturday during our facemask session!

The third Slimming World meeting

Last night I had to take Grace and Rex with me as Ross was away on business. I knew I wouldn’t be able to stay for the whole thing but I did check-in, get weighed and managed to have a good chat with the other members. One lady was thrilled to be just 1lb away from her target weight. She has done amazingly well.

I did miss staying for the group session as I find it very motivating and really supportive. It is great to hear how well other members are doing. Also, if you have a bad week, you know you are not alone and other members help to lift you back up again.

I made sure to have a chat with Becs, our group leader, before I left. As always, she was really encouraging.

Weigh-in

Weight at the beginning of my diet: 195.5lbs

Weight last Monday: 192.5lbs

Target weight: 156lbs

Weight this Monday: 191.0lbs

Loss for the week: 1.5lbs

Total Loss so far: 4.5lbs

My thoughts on the Slimming World plan so far

I have to say that I didn’t expect much of a loss but I am really pleased that I did get one. It also means that I am now very near to my half a stone award – so I am going to do my best to get 2.5lbs off for next week.

  1. It sounds as if you’re doing a lot of things right, me I can’t even get breakfast right. Part of that is the old problem of having no appetite in the morning but stuffing my face late at night. You sound pretty healthy to me.
