Losing Weight with Slimming World Week 9
Regular readers will know that I am following the Slimming World plan and I would just like to say a huge thanks to all the members of my group who read my posts and chat with me about them. It really helps with the support.
This last week I was gunning for my stone award. With just half a pound to go until I got it, I wasn’t about to fall at the final hurdle!

The Slimming World food I ate
Last week was all about the planning for me. Ross put a magnetic meal planner on the front of our fridge months ago! It has a space for each day plus a section for a shopping list. I definitely made good use of it.
I decided on the staples of chicken dopiaza and beef lasagne which have become firm family favourites but I also opted to try something new from the One for All recipe book, which I received for free when signing up for another 12 weeks for the price of 10 a few weeks back.

The recipes I chose were chicken enchilada bake and coq au vin. Because I was a little concerned that the enchilada bake would be too spicy for Grace, I put a little less chilli flakes in than they suggested. Both dishes were very well received. Rex had some of the coq au vin for lunch yesterday and he even ate the chicken (which he normally leaves!). There were a couple of times I had a stir fry which were quick and easy – and I plan to do similar for myself this week as I have quite a bit of work to catch up on!

Ross, Rex and I went to Wetherspoons for lunch on Saturday. I was going to opt for my usual five bean chilli – but then I took at look at their new Festive menu currently on offer. I was really chuffed to see a jacket potato with king prawns and a seafood and prosecco sauce. It came with a side salad. I wasn’t sure on the syns but I knew it wouldn’t be far off and I decided to leave off the salad dressing. It was delicious!
Favourite Discoveries of the Week
Firstly, most definitely that festive menu at Wetherspoons which caters for meeee!! Secondly, the recipes from the One for All book were both amazing. Because they are cooked all in one pan, it makes life very easy. I also found a recipe book at my meeting last night – ‘Festive Foods’. I was thinking of going off plan for Christmas Day but now I am looking to stay mainly on! Given all the delicious recipes I have found it that book, I think it is going to make my life much easier – plus, I can use my syns on alcohol instead!
How I felt
I have to admit that I found last week fairly hard. There were days which I felt like saying ‘sod it, I’ve lost enough weight’ (because I am feeling SO much better) but I knew I had that 1 stone carrot dangling so stayed with it.
Exercise
Although I didn’t do anywhere near as much exercise as the previous week at Center Parcs, I stuck with it and did what I could. That mainly meant walking into town and back! When the work side of things has calmed down a bit (in the next week or so) then I will definitely be using our gym equipment in the garage to tone up and feel even fitter.
I have started to use my Polar Loop 2 now which is definitely working better than my Fitbit did. It isn’t quite as user-friendly as I find their interface a little more complex but the fact that it works is the main thing!
The Slimming World meeting
This week I was ruddy determined to get my 1 stone award with a good loss yesterday – and I did it! I was so thrilled. Becs gave me my certificate at the beginning of the meeting and, as usual, updated Ross, Grace and one of my sisters (who has also done Slimming World and lost an amazing 51lbs!).
We chatted through company news. I also bought some more Salted Caramel Hifi bars (now my favourites) and, as I was eyeing up the raffle prize, I bought two strips of tickets. I was thrilled to win!
It was an advent calendar with a different-flavoured Options hot chocolate drink for each day. That will definitely keep me going through December!
Weigh-in
Weight at the beginning of my diet: 195.5lbs
Weight last week: 182.0lbs
Target weight: 156lbs
Weight this Monday: 179.5lbs
Loss for the week: 2.5lbs
Total Loss so far: 16.0lbs
My thoughts
I have to say that I am so totally chuffed with this. It was only this last week that I really started to feel the difference. The tops of my legs aren’t rubbing together any more, I feel lighter on my feet and far more energetic than I have in aaaaggeees! My next award is the Club 10 (losing 10% of my body weight) and I am definitely gunning for that one!
My goals for this week
I’d love to lose similar to this last week. The most I have lost in one go is 3.5lbs so to try for more than that would be an extra achievement!
