With a number of challenges on the horizon – and some already faced – I am continuing on the Slimming World plan. Last night was my sixth meeting. This time I went on my own and enjoyed having the chance to talk to the other members about their week.
Last week I decided I wanted to try and lose 3 lbs before my next weigh-in. Did I do it? Here is my week.
The Slimming World food I ate
Here are some of the highlights from what I ate last week.
- Breakfast – I did change this up a bit. I had a lot more fruit than the previous week and tended to have either satsumas and an apple or the Oatso Simple.
- Lunch – I generally had an omelette, a jacket potato or the leftovers from the previous nights dinner.
- Dinner – Ross was out a couple of the nights so I had some Slimming World meals and Grace had things like chicken kiev or burgers. Other than that I made a couple of slow cooker meals plus a lovely Turkey Thatch Pie. It is the equivalent of a Cottage Pie but using turkey mince. Friday was my biggest challenge when I was out photographing a wedding. Thankfully, they had something on the menu to suit me!
After last week’s error, I was much more conscious of what I ate. I had a lot more fruit and satsumas seem to be my favourites at the moment.
On Friday I was photographing a wedding. We were given choices for food beforehand so I opted for the grilled vegetable ratatouille. It was delicious. I also had a Passion Fruit Fool. The other option was chocolate terrine with chantilly cream. After the other photographer and I had finished our puddings, there were loads left! Whilst he decided on seconds, I made sure I refrained. I have to admit that I was rather proud of myself.
Carrying out a photography job on Saturday made eating a bit tricky. I made it work for me though!

The Slimming World burgers are delicious! I totally recommend them.
How I felt
Thursdays are the days I seem to find the hardest. I really wanted chocolate last week and this was the day that I could have caved! It was the same story on Sunday when the clocks went back, I didn’t get to sleep until 1.30am and was then up with Rex at 4.15am!
The exercise really helped though (see below!).
To start with, I decided to charge up my FitBit as I find that wearing it helps to motivate me.
Rather than worry about getting up to 10,000 steps, I was more concerned with making sure I did enough active minutes. I started off with completing 19 minutes on Tuesday and most of the other days I managed to get 9. My best day though was Wednesday when I did 39 active minutes. It is amazing what walking up a hill with a pushchair full of shopping can do for you!
I know I haven’t managed to get into the garage yet to use our exercise equipment but I am happy with this as a starting point.
The Sixth Slimming World meeting
Each week, I am getting to know more people and enjoying the meetings. Last night I decided to go for the special offer and signed up for another 12 weeks (I received 10 for the price of 12) plus, as it was the last night of the offer, I will also receive a new recipe book.
We all bring in an item to put into the basket for the slimmer of the week. Whilst I was out shopping, I noticed that our local discount store had some cake tins for £1. I needed one but bought two so I could put one into the basket. It made a change from a tin of beans!
It was great to share my good weightloss for the week with the group.
Weight at the beginning of my diet: 195.5lbs
Weight last Monday: 188.5lbs
Target weight: 156lbs
Weight this Monday: 185.0lbs
Loss for the week: 3.5lbs
Total Loss so far: 10.5lbs
My goals for this week.
As I found the exercise helped, I am definitely continuing with that this week. Plus, I am going to be a bit more careful about my syns – especially with a Center Parcs break looming.
