Top Activities With Your Kids This Autumn

Autumn is upon us. You can feel it in the crisp air and pumpkin spice is everywhere. Autumn really is a fantastic time of year.

During the Autumn, you can wrap up warm, wearing comfy scarves and cosy boots. This is the time of year when all the comfort foods are in season. Beef stew, chilli, and chicken casseroles are meals that are constantly being prepared in my slow cooker.

So, we know the fashion and food are great during this season, but what about entertainment? Well there are so many fun things you can do with your family. Here is a list of just some of the activities you can look forward to.

Visit a Pumpkin Farm

One of the tell-tell signs that October is here, are the pumpkin farms. Pumpkin farms are somewhere you can take your kids to at any age – and, of course, they can dress up in their Halloween costumes too!

While you’re at the pumpkin farm, you and your kids will have so many activity options. Most pumpkin farms not only offer you the chance to walk around and pick out the perfect pumpkin, but they also offer hayrides and corn mazes.

This is a great way for you and your kids to get some bonding time. Spending time having fun amongst the pumpkins certainly helps to left the spirits.

Host a Bonfire

Autumn is the perfect time of year for bonfires. This will be the only excusable reason to start a fire in your garden!

What is the greatest bonfire food? If you guessed s’mores and hot dogs you guessed right! Grab some skewers and go to town with your roasted hot dogs and giant marshmallows!

Bonfires are so much fun, so why not share the excitement with friends and family? Invite your children’s friends over, along with their parents. The kids can enjoy hot cocoa around the fire, while the adults might enjoy more of an adult beverage. Bonfires are one of the greatest reasons to enjoy autumn activities.

Do Some Autumn Crafts

Autumn crafts are throw in different colours and scents to those done at any other time of the year.

Amongst many things you can do is carve pumpkins. Once you’ve picked out your pumpkins at the pumpkin farm, you can take them on home and get to carving! You definitely want to make sure you have the right carving tools necessary for this particular activity.Pumpkin carving can be fun, but safety definitely comes first.

Once they are done, you can take the pumpkins they’ve carved, place candles in them and light up your porch ready for Halloween.

Another popular craft you can do with your children is make Autumn wreaths for your front door. I love door wreaths, especially Autumnal ones. They just make your house look warm and inviting.

This is a craft, where you can actually get your sticks and leaves from your own front and back garden (if you have them!). The kids can go outside and have a little scavenger hunt to find the leaves they’ll need. Alternatively, you can get fake leaves and berries from your local craft store.

Go Apple Picking

There’s nothing like the sound of a loud crunch from biting into an apple. The fact that your kids picked the apples themselves makes the apples even sweeter.

Kids enjoy having a sense of purpose just as much as adults do. When your children see you making an apple pie or cobbler, using the apples they picked from the trees, it gives them a sense of pride. They feel like they’ve contributed to the household in some kind of way.

Bake Pumpkin Bread

Nothing tastes more like Autumn than a slice of pumpkin bread. Practically anything can taste seasonal if you add pumpkin to it.

The bread is perfect as a morning treat with a hot cup of coffee (you could always make it a pumpkin latte!). You enjoy some slices together with your kids – or save them for yourself!

Baking pumpkin bread in the Autumn could be deemed as a tradition for you and the kids. It’s definitely something that your whole family can look forward to every year.

Take Autumn Family Photos

This would have to be one of my top favourite Autumn activities to do as a family. To make the most of the season, the photos definitely need to be taken outdoors.

Some usual places for photos are pumpkin farms, near rivers, and in the woods. We love to go to the local reservoir in Chard as it is one of our favourite places to walk.

Once you have taken the photos, you could use them as the image for your Christmas Greeting cards and have them printed off.

Another way to share the photos of your family is to create your own blog. This is one of the reasons I love mine. It enables me to share the pictures and experiences I have had with my family throughout the year.

If you want to start a blog, you’ll need to acquire a domain name. From there, you can finish the process of your blog, personalising it to suit you. Blogs are a great way to share your moments and experiences and help give others some inspiration or ideas.

This is a collaborative post.
