Prose for Thought – Dear Georgie

Welcome to this week’s Prose for Thought and thank you to those of you who linked up last week.

I find the creative mind an interesting thing. Last week I had no inspiration at all. This week it has come in bucket-loads – so many happy and sad situations – and I knew exactly what I needed to do.

Writing a poem can be such a personal thing, and never more so than when you are writing it for someone else’s very personal situation.

Last week, I wrote a post about Oana who writes at Mamas Haven and how she was losing her little boy. Sadly, the very next day, on Saturday 5th July 2014 at 11.27pm, he passed away. This is for you Georgie.

Dear Georgie

Precious beauty
photo (5)Known for such a short time
The angels knew your fate
Gone to play among the stars

This world will never tarnish
Knowing only the wonder of the next
No pain, no tears, no sorrow
Full of giggles and no more ill

Traces of you still here
A lock of hair, a print, a memory
Here to comfort your family
Loving you til the end of time

Watch over those you leave
Now and again, give them a sign
That one day they will hold you again
And they will know your face

Your playmates will be those
Of others gone too soon
Jumping through moonbeams
Sliding down rainbows

So fly little angel, fly
Spread your soft white wings
We will remember your name
Dear Georgie
