Should You Measure Your Feet as an Adult? #MyHotterFit
*I was provided with a pair of shoes in return for trying the Hotter Footprint™*

Cast your mind back, way back. Back to the beginning of March before the world changed forever. I was invited to a local Hotter shoe shop to put their brand new technology, the Hotter Footprint™, to the test.
More often than not, whenever I have tried on a pair of shoes over the past years, they have never quite fit perfectly. It probably hasn’t helped that I have gone around with the mindset of being a size 7 and that is it! I never realised that as adult, you should get your feet measured…until now.

Getting your Feet measured with Hotter Footprint™
Upon arriving at the Exeter branch of Hotter shoes, I was invited to step on the Hotter Footprint™. This is a scanning machine which uses innovative digital technology in order to create a 3D image of your feet. This determines your size, fit and arch type with pinpoint accuracy. It is completed in seconds!
It is interesting to note that over 75% of people haven’t had their feet measured in the last ten years. I am definitely included in that number. The thing is, as you get older, your feet can change which means it is important to get them measured on a regular basis.

My Experience
I have to say that it is much more straightforward than I expected. all you do is step on board. It took my mind back to when I was a kid in Clarks and we had the machines which squeezed your feet. This was much more comfortable though!
On top of finding out your results instantly, you are also able to have your results emailed to you. The in-store machine brings up a guide to the choices available for your choice of footwear, changing the sizing for each style to allow for your feet. It was interesting to see that this varied by as much as a whole size!
The report you receive goes into a lot of detail and includes measurements to the millimetre for the width, length, height and girth of each of my feet. I love the fact that it counts for the individuality of each foot. As I mentioned to the girls in the store, when you go clothes shopping you can vary by dress size in each store so it is only natural that your feet should to

Choosing a Pair of Shoes
I had been after a decent pair of court shoes for a while. I wanted something that was versatile enough to wear in the day or evening. Something which would suit summer or winter and that could be worn with or without tights.
After some back and forth – which is something I always do when making a decision! – I decided to opt for the brand new Darcy design from their range in the catalogue. Thankfully, I was able to try on a similar design and was really surprised that the Hotter Footprint advised me that I should wear a size 6. I have been a 7 ever since I can remember.

To start with, I felt a bit out of my comfort zone and went with the 6 and a half. The more I wore this around the shop, the more uncomfortable I became as I found my foot slipping down into the toe. In the past, I would have brushed this off and dealt with the pain! However, I decided to listen to technology and give the size 6 a try. The more I wore this, the more I understood why technology had advised me on this.
As a result, I was happy to order the Darcy in black in size 6 – and I have to admit, I couldn’t be happier.

Another reason to love Hotter
I have trusted Hotter Shoes for a long time on this blog. I have had a number of pairs of shoes from them over the years and they have always become my favourites at that point in time, being well-worn. Now, I feel even more confident, knowing that their sizing system will help add to their promise of comfort for my feet.
