A Review of Elizabeth Brown Maternity Wear PLUS WIN £100 to Spend With Them

A few weeks back I wrote a post about how difficult it is to find maternity wear on the high street. On top of that, I also resent the fact that you have to pay so much for clothes which you are only going to use for around 9 months before you move on again.

When visiting  the Baby Show recently, I came across the Elizabeth Brown brand of maternity wear and was suitably impressed. Whilst they don’t have any high street stores – yet – they are extremely reasonably priced and are a family-run business with products being sourced and made here in the UK.

About Elizabeth Brown Maternity Wear

Kerry Brown, the founder and owner of Elizabeth Brown is a mum of four and a plus size woman. Like me, she had trouble finding maternity clothes when she was pregnant. Clothes which allowed her to be comfortable, whilst not costing a fortune. When she fell pregnant with her 4th child, she decided to do something about these issues.

She juggled sitting at her sewing machine with looking after her son and, finally, came up with her designs. She decided that she wanted to offer maternity and nursing clothes that would provide comfort, support and be versatile – and I have to say that I feel that she has succeeded.

Maternity and Nursing Crossover Dress

I was sent three pieces to review and keep and the first is this great dress which I tried on when I was at the Baby Show – and was also featured the catwalk at their fashion show.

The dress is made from a really comfortable jersey material, in a black, white and blue pattern and I ordered it in a size 14-16 to allow more room for my increasing bump and bottom! (I am normally a 12-14 when I am not pregnant).

A really versatile dress, I feel it is great for any occasion. I wore it last weekend when we went out for our Mothers Day lunch and got some lovely compliments. The other thing I love is that it has a crossover top for easy access when breastfeeding, so this will prolong it’s use. Taking this all into consideration, I feel that the £19.99 price tag is extremely reasonable.

Ivory Lace Maternity Top and Vest Set

I saw this piece at the show but unfortunately did not get the opportunity to try it on. I love the elegant lace coupled with the ivory vest top. The top can be worn with a skirt or smart trousers to make it suitable for office attire or you can go more casual with leggings or maternity jeans.  Also, I think the fact that you can still use the vest as a separate piece makes it go that bit further – and will likely use this as nightwear during the summer months. Again, I ordered this in a size 14-16. Priced at £24.99.

Maternity Bootleg Trousers

I think the thing I have struggled with the most during both of my pregnancies is finding clothes to fit my bottom half. I have found that my bottom expands at almost the same rate as my tummy so I am always on the lookout for comfort as well as style. These bootleg trousers most definitely offer this.  They are made from a Ponte-Roma Jersey with an over the bump waistband, providing a close, stylish fit plus all day comfort. They are also versatile in the fact that you can wear them to work, at home and dress them up or down. Ordered in a size 14-16. Priced at £21.99.
