Relaxation. A Photography and Poetry Prompt

As I said on last week’s poetry prompt, I am going to find the next few,  in the backlog of poems I have outstanding, rather tricky – and this one is no exception. What I did know is that I wanted to start and end with the title word of the poem and I worked around it from there.

I generally seem to find the photos fairly easy and straightforward. This week’s image is of Ross taking it easy as he did a warm up song with his band, D-State, last Saturday at a family fun evening! Now that is what I call relaxation!

Relaxation

Relaxation is a thing
when all is said and done
The thing that stops you stressing out
Take care of number one

Things they may be bothersome
and get right on your nerves
Stop for just a moment
Give your body what it deserves

Take time and take care
Of you and how you feel
You only get just one life
Take time out to heal

Then once you have recuperated
After lots of cogitation
You can take on life again
Thanks to that relaxation

  1. Great poem Vic. I am so bad at relaxing, taking time for myself and trying to empty my mine of all the thoughts and chatter but you have reminded me I need to try. It’s good for our overall wellbeing. #pocolo

  2. Oh Vic, this feels like it could have been written for me! I try to prioritise self-care and know it helps me, but I am bad at making time for it! It’s something I am focusing on as it helps me be more productive in the long run. Fab poem as ever lovely xxx #Prose4Thought

  4. Such a to the point poem that i certainly need to take heed of this week. Being back at work after the summer holidays has seen me rushing around all over the place! #PoCoLo

  5. What a great poem. It’s so important that mummies and daddies take a time out for their sanity! My mummy enjoys relaxing in a bath and that’s her escapism. You need to allow your body (and mind) to heal, so you are recharged for all the craziness that is family life!

  6. Thanks for sharing your excellent poem Vic. The advice to take time away from the chaos is something we all need to be reminded of x

  7. Love the positivity of your poem, it feels active and relaxing at the same time! Thanks for hosting #PoCoLo

  8. I love the slight contradiction in this poem, it talks about the importance of relaxation, but the rhythm is actually quite pacy! This aspect really makes you think!

  9. Another great one, Victoria! I especially love this line: Stop for just a moment/ Give your body what it deserves. It’s a great reminder that relaxation doesn’t mean unproductivity or a waste of time, it’s actually what your body needs after all that hard work! Thanks so much for hosting us today. Hope you have a fantastic rest of the week!

    1. Thank you so much for your lovely comment Maria – I hadn’t thought of it that way but you are so right. No problem at all – you too x
