‘About Me’ A Kenning Poem – Day 20 of National Poetry Writing Month #NaPoWriMo

On to Day 20 of National Poetry Writing Month and I am once again following the prompt over on the NaPoWriMo site. They have challenged us to write a kenning poem which is a riddle-like metaphor used in the Norse sagas. They are basically a way of describing something without using it’s actual name. They have asked us to think of a single thing or person – so I decided to use myself as the subject – and then write a poem that consists of kenning-like descriptions. For example, you might call a cat a mouse-stalker, quiet-walker, bird-warner, purr-former, etc.
