Orangutan Hide and Seek
Orangutan Hide and Seek
During half term we went to Monkey World in Wareham, Dorset. It is one of our favourite places and it was Rex’s first time – of many I am sure! They had been advising on Twitter that their car park was flooded due to bad weather but, on Friday, the weather was fine and we decided to risk it.
They had a special offer on for half term. If children brought the monkeys a present – either clean socks, an unopened packet of seeds or some sugar-free jelly – then they would get in for £1. We opted for the jelly and took two packs – despite the fact that Rex could get in for free. We also took along a packed lunch to help keep costs to a minimum.
The queue was a long 1 and a half miles when we arrived in Wareham so we spent the time laughing and joking and generally enjoying each others company. I was a little concerned that Rex would cry and get bored but he was good as gold!
It was fairly easy to park when we did get in and the queue to pay moved pretty quickly. Thankfully my perseverance and persuasion of Ross had paid off!
We were testing out a new pushchair whilst we were there so daddy took control of the wheels and showed Rex the park which he knows so well. Because I hadn’t done much in the way of photography recently, Grace and I armed ourselves with our cameras and set to work photographing many of the different monkey species. She took some great images which I will be sharing here soon.
I love the gibbons but they weren’t in the trees when I had my camera handy. My other favourites were out in full force though. The orangutans.
We came across this particular enclosure where the game was orangutan hide and seek!

Sounds like a great day out. We love animals in our household and Monkey World in Wareham sounds and looks amazing. Do you know if there is something similar in the north west?
SO CUTE!!!
The photo is so clear and I love the vivid colors! #mysundayphoto
Monkeys wear socks, lol. Fun photo.
That’s a great photo, I do love the orangutans. It’s always a worry when you have to queue with a baby but what a good little boy you have x

Oh what a natural born showman they have there!
I love the timing of this, we wanted to visit Monkey World but when we were nearby it was closed.
Thank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto
That is such a cute photo! We’ve never been to Monkey World, but I’ve heard good things about it.
Hi Victoria, I had flashbacks of sitting in traffic trying to get into Dawlish Warren in the summer, the queues were horrendous, but worth it once we got there. I love this photo of Rex, he looks a proper cheeky monkey ( sorry couldn’t resist)…. Who knew orangutangs liked jelly? Or was that for the keepers?
xx
It’s a creative way of playing hide and seek, I’ll grant the little fella that! Hope you enjoyed your day out Victoria. #mysundayphoto
