Moment Ago. A Poem #Prose4T
As Ferris Bueller once said ‘Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it’! I have wonderful memories of my younger years; buying magazines, listening to my favourite music, stickers and swaps, sweet shops, playing horses in the garden, childhood holidays to Westgate on Sea, and so the list goes on. My biggest hope is that Grace remembers her childhood as fondly as I remember mine. This week’s poem is basically me, wondering where my life went! It all seems just a moment ago – and yet, so many years have now passed. And yes, the photo is of me as a baby.
A Moment Ago
How did it, when did it
All come to this?
A moment ago
I hadn’t been kissed
I bought Just Seventeen
Knew the latest styles
Now I have a house and a child
A moment ago
I watched Top of the Pops
I bought sweets and stickers
And with my friends
I did swaps
A moment ago
I played horses and danced
I had homework and chores
I hadn’t heard of romance
A moment ago
I watched children’s TV
Spent summers in the garden
Holidays at Westgate on Sea
A moment ago
I had no cares in the world
Except if I looked cool
Wore my hair straight or curled
So how did it, when did it
All come to this?
A moment ago
Oh, how you are missed
Advice to my daughter
Cherish each day
Because tomorrow is just a moment away

I often have moments of sheer disbelief about where time goes. The baby years with my children also feel now that they went by in a flash, o course at the time it didn’t!
Fab poem, well put, I particularly liked the last verse. #prose4†
Just Seventeen those were the days ? Perfectly captured all those little memories! #prose4T
Ah, where did the time go?! I sometimes can’t believe that so many years have passed. We do need to cherish every day, tomorrow comes before we know it x
Just perfect Vicky! From capturing life moving quickly with the rhythm and pace, to the repetition and those wise words at the end. Thanks for hosting #prose4t
Today I met up with my best mates from when I was 16. We’d not seen each other for years, but it was as if it had been mere moments. It really does fly, and it’s really not that long.
Relate and totally capsulates the change that at times feels so fast X #prose4t
Oh yes, I can relate to this! Beautifully put
