I haven’t updated my Slimming World journey for a few weeks now. I have been a tad busy (all will become clear at the end of this post!). I am pleased to say that on 24th June 2019 I reached my Slimming World target.
But, how did I do it? What are the facts and figures? Read on!
Where I started
I joined Slimming World on 24th September 2018. I weighed 195.5lbs and was just exhausted. I had been through 2 miscarriages, 1 failed IVF treatment, 1 successful IVF treatment, a pregnancy, pre-eclampsia and dealt with a small baby who had reflux. My health and self-confidence were at an all-time low. I hadn’t felt comfortable in my own skin for over 4 years.
Becs gave me my new members talk and I then joined in the group. I have never really been a shy person but I had definitely lost my confidence. I needed to get it back!
I stepped on the scales after everyone else had left and came away with my my books and a plan.
My favourite foods
There have been absolutely LOADS of meals that I have loved along the way. I have enjoyed roast dinners with a new-found way of making roast potatoes. I have loved spaghetti bolognese and chilli con carne. My love of jacket potatoes was rewarded. Grace’s particular favourite is risotto. I love the tandoori chicken and the Asian barbecue chicken and Ross loves the lasagne.
One of the best things has been that I have renewed my love of cooking and my family have all been enjoying the meals I have made.
I am going to be honest here. I knew that this part would be the trickiest. I am not the biggest lover of exercise. I did do some and am now doing much more than I used to. I started the Couch to 5K but I hated it.
Running – no matter how many times I try to start – just isn’t my ‘thing’. I love dancing and have been doing loads of that though!
These have been as follows:
Week 4 – Half a stone
Week 9 – One stone
Week 12 – Club 10
Week 13 – One and a half stone
Week 21 – Two stone
Week 27 – Two and a half stone
Week 37 – Three stone
Week – Slimmer of the week
Week – Bronze Body Magic
Week – Silver Body Magic
Won the raffle

???? SLIMMING WORLD ADVENT CALENDAR ???? How cool is this?! Last night at my Slimming World meeting I won the raffle for an advent calendar which holds an Options Hot Chocolate sachet for each day – all ranging between 1 to 1.5 syns per drink. The perfect way to get through December! Tune in later today to see if I got my 1 Stone Award too!
I also won another raffle in early May which was for Slimming World staples for the cupboard. This included pasta, fry light, cous cous and passatta sauce.
My biggest weekly gain
My biggest gain was 4lbs on 7th January. This was over Christmas and something that I completely planned for. I pretty much came off plan for the whole Christmas period and was happy to work to get it back off again knowing I had enjoyed myself when putting it on!
My biggest weekly loss
My biggest loss was 3.5lbs on 29th October – around a month after I started the plan. I have had a few 3lb loss weeks but this was definitely the biggest one.
What I loved
I have to say that I pretty much loved everything about the whole plan! I only came off it at Christmas but really missed feeling good. The Christmas excess helped me realise just how sluggish and rubbish my body felt when I wasn’t feeding it the good stuff!
There were weeks when I just wanted to eat junk food but I knew that I had to put in what I wanted to get out at the end.
I now feel that I have ‘trained’ myself into a better way of eating. I know my limits and my triggers – which include chocolate and cake – and just need to just let myself have these things now and again. After all a treat is not a treat if you have it all the time!
What I didn’t love so much
I have to put my hand on my heart and say that there was nothing that I didn’t really like.
I do need to kick my backside a bit more with the exercise but Slimming World is more about the eating side than anything else. Exercise does help you though!
The group support
The group support has meant the world to me. At first, I have to admit, I thought I would hate it. I feel the absolute opposite.
The people in the group have become my friends. I look forward to every Monday as I look upon it as part of my social life now. We have supported each other throughout and, along with Becs my consultant, they were the ones willing me on to get to my target.
My Slimming World Target Stats
As well as my starting weight, I also took my measurements. Here is the full run-down:
Starting Weight: 195.5lbs
Finishing Weight: 151.5lbs
Total loss: 44.0lbs
Starting BMI: 28.9
Finishing BMI: 22.4
Total Body Fat loss: 32.5%
Average daily loss: 0.15lbs
Average weekly loss: 1.04lbs
Bust – start: 36C
Bust – finish: 34B
Waist – start: 41 inches
Waist – finish: 29 inches
Hips – start: 49 inches
Hips – finish: 41 inches
Now, for me, it is about staying within target. After the first week I put on 2.5lbs, the second week I lost 1lb and this week I gained 1lb so it is looking like I am getting to grips with being stable about where I am.
I can go up or down by 3lbs from my target weight and still stay as a target member. This means that I no longer have to pay and get free lifetime membership to Slimming World. My next goal is to become a Diamond target member – meaning I have stayed at target for a whole year!
I shall still be sharing posts every so often to let you know how I am getting on and also share some recipes which I have put together along the way.
There is something else on top of all this. Since Christmas I have ummed and ahhhed about becoming a Slimming World Consultant.
I have two self-employed part -time jobs already – my photography and my blog – both of which I love very much but I do need an extra form of income.
A week before I reached my Slimming World target, Becs announced that she would be stepping down from Slimming World – opening up a door for a new Consultant in Crewkerne. I was in the morning group when she announced it so I came home and told Ross. We agreed that it was fate telling me something!
So, last week, I paid the franchise fee and am off for my first round of training the first week in August. I re-launch the group on Monday 2nd September.
Bring on my next venture!
