Since running my wedding photography business, I have made sure that I sent my couples a small gift a week or so before their big day. The tricky thing was trying to find something lovely, easy to send, caters for many diets and, on top of this, find a small business I could support at the same time. The husband and wife team at Jostle with their delicious vegan bakes were the perfect choice.

I initially found Jostle and their letterbox friendly vegan brownies via a third party site. Then, when I realised that it would be better to support them direct – and that they made cookies too! – that is exactly what I started to do. I have never looked back.

Who are Jostle?

Jostle is a plant based craft bakery owned by husband and wife team Robyn and Ryan. They fell in love with cafes and their culture 7 years ago in Canada and have been working towards having their own coffee shop since then. Their handmade brownies and cookies are baked fresh to order using carefully selected ingredients.

Just before the pandemic struck, they were going to open their own shop but obviously it wasn’t to be. Instead, they formed the business into a delivery company bringing the tastiest vegan cakes and cookies direct to your door. And boy, am I glad they did!

The Brownies

All the Jostle brownies are handmade using single origin craft 70% chocolate from Original Beans – using Cacao from Virunga National Park, Eastern Congo (D.R.).

Double Chocolate Brownie

This is quite honestly the best chocolate brownie I believe I have ever had. Moist, fudgy, rich and indulgent, it is hard to believe that it is vegan!

The ‘Ambassador’ chocolate, hazelnut and praline brownie

You will go ‘nuts’ for this one. A chocolate brownie, it has chunky roasted hazelnuts, chocolate chunks and a caramelised hazelnut praline top.

The ‘Bit of a Mouthful’ almond, white Chocolate and caramel brownie

Gorgeously different, this is more of a Blondie and is a malty almond praline, white chocolate chunks and a chunky roasted almond with a homemade caramel top.

The Cookies

Double Chocolate Cookie

Once again using the single origin craft chocolate from Original Beans (bars of which you can purchase in their brownie and chocolate taster box) Jostles gorgeous double chocolate cookie is rich, intense and the perfect mix of a little crisp on the outside and melt in the mouth on the inside.

Salted Pecan and White Chocolate Cookie

Another perfect cookie, this one has a malty, buttery taste and is decorated with roasted pecans, nuggets of white chocolate and a nice pinch of sea salt too!

S’mores Cookie

This American campfire staple has been turned into a cookie by the clever people at Jostle. It features a classic chocolate chunk cookie but also contains marshmallow and is topped with another ready to toast – if you wish! If you would prefer la warm, toasted, gooey marshmallow just pop your S’mores cookie under a medium heat grill for 60-90 seconds but make sure it doesn’t burn!

The lovely people at Jostle bake twice a week and dispatch the day after baking. These days are as follows:

• Order by 8AM on THURSDAY for FRIDAY dispatch

Orders are sent via Royal Mail 1st Class, or you can choose tracked or guaranteed delivery options at the checkout. You can also contact them to choose a date for pre-orders.

Any other information

As well as ordering boxes 6 of the same flavour brownie or cookie, you can also order mixed boxes which feature two of each flavour. Each costs £16.50 plus postage.

Also on offer are letterbox brownies – 2 squares, one flavour – at a very reasonable £6 plus postage, a brownie and craft chocolate taster box at £9 plus postage, individual bars of chocolate for £3.50 and a selection of cards by the talented artist Eden Waters at £3 each. The Verdict on the Delicious Vegan Bakes from Jostle

I have tasted some Brownies and Cookies in my time but these are the kind which leave a lasting impression. The kind that once you have tasted them, you think about every so often and then crave for more.

The fact that I have been sending these to my photography clients – and have now tried them for myself means that I am even happier with the product I have chosen.
