Birds of Prey at the Hawk Conservancy Trust
We were rather chuffed to be invited recently to review the Hawk Conservancy Trust and there will be a full write up on my blog this week. In the meantime, I wanted to share with you just some of the very many photos I took whilst we were there.

Red Kite
The top image is of a Red Kite. We learned that the Kites catch food with their talons and then pass it up from their feet to their mouth and eat whilst in flight. I was rather chuffed to capture this Red Kite doing exactly that!
African Fish Eagle
The next bird is the African Fish Eagle who was showing us how to catch fish during the Wings of Africa Flying Display.
Bald Eagle
Bald Eagles are such majestic creatures and I was so pleased to be able to take this portrait of one standing out on his perch in the sun.
Great Grey Owl
We were extremely lucky to get up close to a number of owls during the afternoon as part of our experience. Grace and I both flew a barn owl and a Great Grey Owl, which is the beautiful creature pictured above.
Burrowing Owls
Finally, new for this summer, is the chance to meet the Trust’s newest residents, Burrowing Owls. Grace and I were invited to a VIP experience where we were allowed into their aviary. As you will see in my blog post later in the week, they were rather fond of Grace!

Stunning photos Victoria, my hubby would love it there, but as I’ve just said on Tim’s post, I am a little scared of big birds, especially close up. Way up in the sky is okay though 🙂

Hi Victoria, what a special experience to get so close to these magnificent birds. You’ve managed to get some wonderful photographs. I was lucky enough to see fish eagles in their natural environment out in South Africa, but never up so close. The burrowing owl looks a proper character!

With all those incredible photos you managed to outdo yourself with that Burrowing Owl standing on someone’s head on one leg no less. Very, very cool.
The bald eagle is beautiful although rather scary looking too. I love the owls, they’re tiny. #mysundayphoto
