An Ode to #BML16
So, here it is once again. BritMums Live or as it is more commonly known now #BML16. I knew I was going in September last year as Jen and Susanna kindly offered all of their Editor delegates (of which I am one of the Poetry and Prose round-up team) a complimentary ticket. I have a great sponsor in the form of Message in a Bottle, have booked the Montcalm for two nights, have written my ‘I’m Going to…’ post and written a post for BritMums about the 5 things I am looking forward to. To top it all – and this has been one of my goals since the first year I attended – I have been asked to be one of the Bloggers Keynote speakers with my poem ‘For the Love of Blogging‘.
With all of this in mind, I could not do anything other than use this very subject for my poem this week.
An Ode to #BML16
This weekend is BritMums Live
Full of bloggers with loads of drive
Lots to see and loads to do
Tell me, will you be there too?
Starting with a party on the Friday night
Best start the drinks with something light
Somewhere to begin and to socialise
Far away from our children’s cries
You can feel the buzz and see the excitement
Bloggers in one place, that’s the incitement
Things to do, and see, and make
Did someone say ‘let them eat cake’?
The Clangers, Lawn Tennis and the Costa Brava
With challenges to get all of us into a lava
After drinking the wine (note we are not alcoholics!)
I fear for the man who is modelling bollox
This is my fourth year, some say veteran
Sessions to attend, things to get better in
Honoured to be asked to do a keynote speech
I always thought this was out of my reach
Then a fifth birthday to celebrate
Oh, OK then, I’ll have some more cake
Finally the BiBs to celebrate all that’s dear
Leave on a high, until this time next year
