Slimming World Fast Forward – Day 7

On Monday 8th June, I started the Slimming World Fast Forward programme. I have finished Day 7! I made it. I have to say that despite getting to my target almost a year ago and becoming a fully qualified Slimming World Consultant last year, I still learned so much about myself and how I function when it comes to food. I feel different about this whole thing again – in an even more positive way.

WHAT IS SLIMMING WORLD FAST FORWARD?
Slimming World say that Fast Forward is a slimmer’s equivalent of a strait-jacket. For those periods when we are stuck or feel like rebelling. Sometimes, a week doing this will help.
The plan is carefully designed by top experts in the field of weight loss and nutrition. It is healthy and very effective and, as a Consultant, we have the tools to personalise the plan for the member by using a calculation which takes into account your metabolic rate and activity level so that you are given the correct number of units per day for your food allowance.
Once your Total Daily Unit allowance has been calculated, you can include a salad or vegetable unit each day for free and then choose from the Light Meal, Main Meal and Snacks section to make up your Total Daily Unit allowance. You get at least 18 per day. My calculations have given me 20.
It is even more strict in the fact that, if there are any minor parts to the meal that you don’t like, you can miss them out but you CANNOT add anything extra to the meal choices (in my opinion, just don’t choose them in the first place!).
You have to vary your choices and make sure you drink at least 500ml of water each morning, afternoon and evening. Snacks do include things like crumpets, jaffa cakes and even alcohol but even then, it is strict.
You have to make your choices at the beginning of the week and stick to them. It is NOT easy.
SATURDAY 13TH JUNE
I have to admit that I was a little worried today. It isn’t a working day (as such!) for me but I had to finish the newsletter for my Slimming World members first thing. Ross kindly brought me up my breakfast. After that, I took the kids for a walk to Ninesprings Country Park in Yeovil. We had never been but it was beautiful. Definitely a place to frequent with my camera.
Once again, my snack units helped in the afternoon and I forfeited them for the evening after dinner – but that didn’t matter!
THE FOOD I ATE
BREAKFAST

2 slices of 400g wholemeal bread spread with marmite, one poached egg and a slice of gammon. Again not officially on the Fast Forward menu but still well within what I could have had.
LUNCH

Jacket potato with 75g of tuna, salad leaves and a small amount of homemade tomato and sweetcorn sauce made with a vegetable stock cube, chopped tomatoes, garlic, sweetcorn. Once again not on the menu but well within the parameters.
Dinner

100g roast chicken breast (no skin), 125g boiled potatoes, 75g carrots, 25g cauliflower, 15g sweetcorn and 150ml of gravy made with water and gravy granules for an extra unit.
SNACKS
1 apple with 15g danish blue cheese.
DRINKS
2 cups of black coffee, 2 pints of water, 2 glasses of diet lemonade
HOW I FELT
That’s it, I’m done. I just kept thinking to myself that this is just one week out of your life Vic. Ross and I have had some really positive discussions surrounding our eating and we have come out of this knowing that we will not be going back, that we don’t need to eat as much as we were AND we will be saving money on food shopping. Positives all round there!
I was really busy today for lots of reasons, including the fact that it was housework day and that Rex ran me ragged!
EXERCISE
Loads of housework and I cut the grass.
WEIGH-IN
This is it then, how did I get on?
Weight at the beginning of my Fast Forward week: 164lbs
Weight at the end of my Fast Forward week: 159lbs
Total loss: 5lbs
How much did Ross lose? – 4.4LBS
My Thoughts
I have to say, whilst I found this really hard, it is just one week out of your life to reignite the passion for eating free food as much as you like and to really remember just why food optimising is just the best.
Now to lose that final 4lbs to get me back into my target range!

I did the fast forward it was a struggle but managed to stick to it ridgely and lost 9.5bs. Had a week off then did it again and lost 4.5bs. Intend to do once a month
Hey hun. Love your blog. Do slimming world still do virtual groups now the pandemic is over? Or do we have to join their online service instead.
