Slimming World Fast Forward – Day 2

On Monday 8th June, I started the Slimming World Fast Forward programme. I have to say that I found the first day pretty much OK. Not that hard. However, this morning I woke up feeling REALLY hungry. Something I haven’t done in forever.

WHAT IS FAST FORWARD?
Slimming World say that Fast Forward is a slimmer’s equivalent of a strait-jacket. For those periods when we are stuck or feel like rebelling. Sometimes, a week doing this will help.
The plan is carefully designed by top experts in the field of weight loss and nutrition. It is healthy and very effective and, as a Consultant, we have the tools to personalise the plan for the member by using a calculation which takes into account your metabolic rate and activity level so that you are given the correct number of units per day for your food allowance.
Once your Total Daily Unit allowance has been calculated, you can include a salad or vegetable unit each day for free and then choose from the Light Meal, Main Meal and Snacks section to make up your Total Daily Unit allowance. You get at least 18 per day. My calculations have given me 20.
It is even more strict in the fact that, if there are any minor parts to the meal that you don’t like, you can miss them out but you CANNOT add anything extra to the meal choices (in my opinion, just don’t choose them in the first place!).
You have to vary your choices and make sure you drink at least 500ml of water each morning, afternoon and evening. Snacks do include things like crumpets, jaffa cakes and even alcohol but even then, it is strict.
You have to make your choices at the beginning of the week and stick to them. This isn’t going to be easy!
Tuesday 9th june
For much of the morning I managed to ignore feeling so hungry. I had a Zoom Image Therapy session with some of my members and had a lot of work on so managed to take my mind off it.
Once of my really lovely members (thank you Sandra) had been strawberry picking at Forde Abbey. Thankfully, 175g of strawberries is 1 unit. So you can guess what I had for my snack!
Here is how the rest of my day panned out.
THE FOOD I ATE
BREAKFAST

A crumpet spread with a level tablespoon of jam and a pot of yoghurt under 100 calories
LUNCH

2 slices of wholemeal bread from a 400g loaf, 40g of reduced fat cheese and some worcester sauce followed by an apple.
DINNER

A chilli cooked with one onion, 50g of lean mince, 100g chopped tomatoes, 2 heaped tablespoons of mixed beans, garlic, chilli powder and smoked paprika, 50g rice (weighed when uncooked) and my free vegetable unit which consisted of 225g of courgettes (I roasted them with roast potato seasoning and sprinkled with soy sauce).
SNACKS

175g strawberries, 2 jaffa cakes.
DRINKS
3 cups of black coffee, 3 pints of water and 1 glass of diet coke.
HOW I FELT
I am definitely hungrier in the afternoon. I was reading Rex his story at 7.30pm and was feeling ill with hunger so that chilli was extremely welcome!
When I cooked the chilli, I said to Grace ‘Look at this piddly bit of mince! It is tiny. But, by the time I had cooked it all, it was the perfect sized meal. Who knew?!
Ross and I are experiencing this together and that definitely helps!
EXERCISE
Some gardening in the afternoon.
WEIGH-IN
Weight at the beginning of my Fast Forward week: 164lbs
My Target Weight: 152lbs
