4 Ways to Look Your Best at the Races this Summer
*Remunerated Post*
One of my favourite things about the summer is choosing a new dress for a special occasion. An outdoor party, a wedding or even a trip to the races.
I have ventured to Ascot a couple of times in past years and, one of my favourite parts of this was choosing an outfit. To my mind, there are 4 staples any woman needs to consider to look your best at the races.
Table of Contents
The Dress
Finding a style to suit you and your body shape is probably the best place to start. I find that I have a couple of go-to stores where I can generally find an item to suit me. These have changed over the years and, where it used to be places like New Look and River Island, these days I tend to opt for M&Co and Joe Browns.
Joe Browns is probably my most favourite place to go. Not only do they have some outstanding designs, but I also find that there is always a dress shape to suit everyone.
The Shoes
I think shoes are probably the most important part of any outfit to get right. If you are going to be walking around all day then well-fitting footwear is a must. The tricky part is that it has to look stylish as well. On top of that, there is the task of making sure that your shoes match your outfit. Uppersole offer a great range of high heel shoes, all of which look comfortable and are in an affordable price range.

The Hat
I often wish I could wear hats a bit more than I do. I have always found them fascinating and a great addition to most outfits. I always wear a hat or fascinator to a wedding, and I think that the Races are the perfect excuse to treat yourself to a beautiful piece of millinery.

The Accessories
When it comes to accessorising your race day outfit it is important to choose items that compliment your look but are also practical as it can be a long day. A simple clutch bag with optional strap is a great idea for when you get tired of holding it. I also opt for a handbag with plenty of room as you may need to pack some makeup and an umbrella – just in case! Depending on the weather you may also wish to add a pashmina, not to overpower your dress but to keep your shoulders warm as the temperature drops during the evening.
