5 Ideas for the Sleepover of Your Girl’s Dreams

For the last 3 years Grace has been more than happy having a sleepover for her birthday celebrations. It is quite a relief not having to worry about a soft play centre – and all that involves – any more. Plus, there is no expense (unlike the Build-a-Bear Workshop parties we have experienced). The girls tend to like being left to their own devices but they have been a few things we have got involved with during the set-up and running of the sleepover. So here are 5 ideas which might help you.

Hire a Hot Tub

We have a Softub in our garden and, at all 3 sleepovers, Grace and her friends have enjoyed making use of this in the evening. A couple of years ago, Grace had her sleepover on New Years Eve and the girls were out in the garden celebrating with the fireworks over head. If you haven’t got a hot tub, then why not hire one? You could also make use of it, once the girls have finished!

Choose a theme

To make things a little more interesting, you could always set a theme. You could choose something popular at the moment – such as unicorns! Or what about celebrating one of their favourite groups? They could wear an item of clothing depicting them. If you really wanted to push the boat out, you could even find the birthday girl a new themed bed. Online retailers like Children’s Bed Shop have some great themed beds. 

Pamper the Girls

One of the things we did for Grace’s last party was find a salon and let her and one of her friends have an hour of being pampered. This included make-up, nails, a pedicure, manicure, massage bed and foot spa. They got treated to a huge hot chocolate with pink sparkles and lots of sweets! There was also a goody bag at the end. Of course, if the girls would rather stay in their onesies at home, then you could always book a pamper party to come to you.

Treats Galore

There are plenty of ways to find some great food treats. We usually let Grace order in some Chinese food (and Ross and I get in on that too!). There are also things like slushie machines, candy floss makers and chocolate fountains to make the party go with a swing. Then there are the bags of goodies for a midnight feast. And for breakfast? Grace always chooses nutella pancakes! This is made easy thanks to my Severin Pancake maker.

Give up your lounge!

The final thing to bear in mind is the location. We have always given up the lounge to the girls. This is where they eat their food, watch a girly film and, with some cushions and sleeping bags, they crash out on the floor. Of course, this means that Ross and I lose our usual spots on the sofa. Instead, we tend to eat our takeaway in his office and watch a film or favourite TV series on Amazon Prime on his computer.
