2018 Isn’t Over Yet- Here’s How to Make The Most of The Time That’s Left!

Now the summer is drawing to an end and the days are getting shorter and chillier- it’s easy to want to fast track and start thinking about Christmas. The months between the end of summer and the festive season really are over in the blink of an eye, however the year is far from over yet. Perhaps you’re yet to tick off lots of things from your 2018 bucket list, and maybe your resolutions fell by the wayside after just a few months. However, you don’t need to look back on the year as being some kind of failure, or even wait for the next to make a change. Take the bull by the horns, and make the absolute most of the next four months. Here are some ideas!

Improve your knowledge or skills

One of the best, most productive ways you can spend your time is by improving your skills or knowledge. Not only can this make you more employable and improve your job prospects, but it’s also fantastic for self development. It could be an academic course such as a school counseling masters, a business management degree or a nursing diploma. It could be something more casual- a cookery class, a craft group or it could be doing your own research on a subject. We have the world at our fingertips- if you want to learn more on a topic then there are books, videos, podcasts, articles and so much more with plenty of information to take in.

Devote time to something meaningful

Time is precious, most of us live busy, chaotic lives and simply find ourselves wishing for more hours in the day, However, making some time to give back, to help others is incredibly rewarding and something that will allow you to look back on 2018 and know you made a difference. Perhaps you could devote an hour a week to volunteering at a nursing home, children’s hospital, animal sanctuary or women’s refuge? Maybe you could batch cook some meals and hand them out to the homeless on a cold night. Perhaps you could raise some money for a charity that’s dear to your heart? There are lots of ways we can spend just a little time on something that’s incredibly meaningful and really makes a difference to the lives of others.

See a new place in the world

Travel really broadens your horizons, it helps you to see things in a completely different way. You might rule out travel as being too expensive, however there are lots of ways you can keep costs down. Especially at this time of year, now we’re out of peak season everything will be a lot cheaper. There are still incredible sights to see, delicious foods to eat and amazing experiences to have- it doesn’t have to be the middle of summer! You could go backpacking, you could hire an RV and sleep in the van or stay in a travel hostel or motel. Look for last minute deals, there’s still plenty of time to get in a break before the end of the year.
