NaPoWriMo Day 24 – Ice Dancer

Today’s NaPoWriMo is inspired by Grace’s ice skating lesson. She is now on level 4 and I know that it is getting harder for her. She is doing so well and I believe that rather than a skater she will probably become a dancer but these lessons are building her confidence and self-belief.

Ice Dancer

Gliding, dancing, spinning round

Lost in music, not touching the ground

Looking so poised, as I perform

Music can be upbeat or forlorn

Beauty in appearance and in dance

Balance and rhythm is my stance

Danger lurks if I slip on the ice

Approaching a jump, need to think twice

As I come to the end I hear the crowd

The applause I hear is oh so loud

I curtsey and smile and then I wave

I’m the Ice Dancer – graceful and brave

  1. Oh I love this poem and the images it brings to mind. I love Dancing on Ice and always wish I could skate!
