NaPoWriMo Day 20 – What I Meant For You

Welcome to Day 20 of NaPoWriMo. Today is about how I wished I had done things differently for Grace, but then, if I had would she have been here?! I am fully accepting that things are what they are and this is what forms you as a person. Here is my 20th poem in 20 days.
What I Meant For You
This isn’t what I meant for you
But I did the best that I could do
It could have been such devastation
Now I find us in a situation
That’s so much better without he
Who controlled the person I should be
You are generous, kind and true
Something he would never do
Ross is the example you have now
Shows you right, what to and how
You should never ever give in
Be a fighter and you shall win
Together we’ll bring you up right
And be there for you day and night

I can really empathise with your past, Victoria, although I was fortunate in some ways not to have children involved.
To show your daughter true courage and strength, to stand up against those who try to control you, the bullies, is being a good mummy.
It must’ve been so hard for you, you can see that in your poem. But it also brought tears to my eyes at the new, better, loving situation you and she have found.
Well done you – on so many levels – a truly touching post xx
