The Heron and the Swan
I have only just got round to editing these photos which I took of a heron at RSPB Ham Wall towards the end of the summer. Grace and I spent a day there during the holidays.

One of the things I love when looking through these photos is the things you see that you didn’t expect to catch or see when you were looking through the view finder – like the duck having a bit of go in the photo above and looking like he was bodyguard to the heron!

As you can see in the photo below, this nature reserve is extremely close to Glastonbury Tor and it was such a picturesque place. Also in this picture, the swan turns up and feels threatened by the heron that is on his turf!

Of course, the swan is much stronger than the heron – so he decided not to take any chances and was quick to make a swift exit!

I think the heron is going to save it for another day!

If you are on Instagram, then don’t forget that my Instagram linky, InstaLinkLove, is open until Sunday evening at 9.30pm (probably one of the easiest linkys out there!).

Wonderful photos, love the heron, so beautiful and the ‘body guard’ duck is brilliant 🙂
Heron’s really are magnificent birds. superb photos. Mich x

Ha poor Heron. Swans are bossy things aren’t they? Love the photos and you’re so right. Sometimes you only notice things once you’ve looked back at them all!
Stunning shots, I love one with bent wings as the heron flies off.

I love Herons. My maiden name was Heron so they are my namesake and you don’t get to see them too often. Love your shots. They don’t stick around.
