Textures. A Photography and Poetry prompt.

This week’s Photography and Poetry prompt is ‘Textures’. It could have been a tricky one but suddenly the inspiration hit me today. Occasionally I am quite reflective about my life and I look back at what could have been. Then I shake it off and realise that it is what was and there is nothing I can do to change it.

I believe that life is a pattern forming different shapes and textures at different points in time until, eventually, an imprint of you is left on the world. This comes in the shape of what you achieved, the things you have done and, of course, your family.  This is the image that I believes sums that up. A fossil. The words of the poem also do the same.

Textures

I look across the rippled sky as the sun beats down
A tear falls slowly from my eye and my face it wears a frown
I’ve tried so hard now all my life to get to where I want to be
Somehow I got tied in knots and then I had to set me free

Sometimes happy, sometimes sad is the pattern of my being
I look upon the essence of my life and this is what I’m seeing
Ever changing like the wind as time it moves right on
I wonder what it would be like if I had sung a different song

But that was the path I’ve chosen and I can’t change it now
And when the curtain makes it’s close, I will nod and take a bow
Existence takes on a pattern and forms a story of it’s own
The textures of my being, as another seed is sown

    1. Thanks Steph! No, I’m fine 🙂 I would say that it is more reflective than mournful. Just having one of those days I guess. No regrets. Just ‘what ifs’ really. xx
