I have to admit to not really being a big fan of Muse but you know that feeling, the one where you think you like a song to then listen to it again and then remember you actually love that song and it is always better than you remember? Well, their song ‘Madness’ is fantastic. I am not usually one for techno pop but it is so well put together, beautifully sung, produced and builds fantastically.
I can remember the first time I heard it. I was driving Grace to school back when we lived in Wokingham and had just moved in with Ross. She and I had quite a journey everyday as she stayed at the school she went to over where we used to live in Sunninghill. This meant that it would take at least 30 minutes without traffic! We would sometimes have a mix CD on that Ross would put together but, in the mornings, we would traditionally listen to the Chris Evans breakfast show on Radio 2. We used to do this on our journey to her nursery so his programme was familiar to us – especially The Candyman song every Friday!
When ‘Madness’ came on the radio, both of us were spellbound by the song. It continues to remain in my top 20 songs since it’s release 4 years go.
