Social Follow Love #SoFoLo – this week StumbleUpon
This is all about #SoFoLo – better known as Social Follow Love. This a place for you to link up your Social Media Accounts and get sharing in order to gain more followers or benefit from some attention. Each week I am going to suggest a different Social Media Account and this week it’s
If you haven’t heard of StumbleUpon before, it is a social bookmarking site where you can store the posts you love by ‘stumbling’ them – in a similar way to Pinterest I guess – just without all the lovely photos! StumbleUpon also registers the type of pages you like and then it registers the people who like the same sort of thing as you and then this clever social media platform recommends to you the pages that they have shared! Get it?! You can then give each recommended page a thumbs up, or down – and over time, StumbleUpon starts to understand what you really like.
If you are a blogger and your posts are being stumbled or given the thumbs up then it can be a great source of web traffic – thus helping to raise you profile. This is one site that I started to use early on in my blogging career and haven’t really bothered with it so muchn since to be honest! I am hoping that SoFoLo will give me the kick up the bottom that I need.
There is a really comprehensive guide for beginners over on Tots100 which explains it in far more detail than I do here but, what I would say, is that if you don’t have an account then you will have to register but it is completely free to join.
You basically need to link up the URL of the post you have stumbled and would like some ‘thumbs up’ on. For example mine is http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/1eJFKQ/1L@EsYblm:XdiYJh7@/victoriavisits.co.uk/2015/03/18/my-worldly-links-through-world-war-i-and-ii/ If you prefer, you could just go and follow people for now and find out what their likes are – or you could do both!

I actually registered the other day, but I must confess I got a bit confused and kind of left it. So I think I will have a look at this tonight when I have proper time to read and try to understand!
Thank you for hosting. I’m still learning how to use StumbleUpon. I’m not sure if I’m spending enough time on it yet, but I hear you can get great traffic from it.
