If you’re looking to bring some extra magic to the season, please allow me to suggest Shrek’s Christmas Experience, a special extra element to the popular Shrek’s Adventure in London. The remainder of the limited run for this additional event will take place between the 17th to the 24th December and it looks well worth a visit.

Where is Shrek’s Christmas Experience?
Based in the Riverside Building on Westminster Bridge Road, it’s an easy 5 minute walk from either Westminster or Waterloo tube station as well as Waterloo mainline train, and also accessible by busses including the number 211, 77 and 381. The website also contains information about driving and parking, should you wish to brave the London Christmas traffic!
What can you expect at Shrek’s Christmas Experience?
First, you have the 70-minute interactive walk-through experience that is the Shrek Adventure, where guests visit 12 exciting locations from the Dreamworks films including Shrek’s Swamp, Rumpelstiltskin’s carriage, the Poison Apple pub, a Mirror Maze of Insanity, the Bakery and the Prison. Throughout these immersive, laugh-out-loud live shows, you’ll meet the likes of Shrek himself, Donkey, Pinocchio, Puss in Boots, Gingy the Gingerbread Man and many more of the fantastic characters from the Shrek series.
If you visit on any day from the 17th December to Christmas eve inclusive, you’ll also get entry to the enchanting Christmas cabin, a candy treat from the elves, a meet and greet with Shrek Santa as well as a chance to take a family photo to treasure with the big green guy.
Our Family Outing to Shrek’s Christmas Experience
Our family – before Rex came along – was fortunate enough to visit this attraction several years ago at Halloween and it was great fun, with a notable highlight being the 4D magical bus rise to Far Far Away, something we’re looking forward to experiencing again. While last time we went, it was a Halloween theme, we’re keen to see how this contrasts with the Christmas offering, and also interested to see how Grace – now a mid-teen – reacts to it, and how our ever-boisterous and inquisitive five-year-old lad enjoys it – we are sure that everyone will have a fantastic time and look forward to sharing pictures of our visit closer to Christmas!
