Review: Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak from Wow! Stuff

*Gifted Product*

We are huge Harry Potter fans in this house so when we were offered the chance to review the Invisibility Cloak from Wow! Stuff, I knew that we just couldn’t turn it down.

What’s in the box

Inside the box you will find a large Invisibility Cloak. It looks beautiful and the pattern is a replica of what you will see in the films. There is also an instruction manual and phone stand.

The phone stand

Phone Stand for the Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak

The phone stand is needed to help with the magic part of the Invisibility Cloak (more of that in a moment).

The stand itself is nicely made, really well adjustable for different angles and has rubber bottomed feet to prevent it slipping.

It is designed to enable you to take selfies and needs to be placed low down for full effect.

The Invisibility Cloak

The cloak is full-sized for an adult (which Ross and I are rather pleased about!) and it is almost 140cm long. This means that you are able to cover yourself completely and there is plenty of material for a good swoosh!

The Invisibility Cloak

The cloak is made from two layers of fabric and the fact that they have managed to get it so close to the one in the film really does mean it feels like you are actually wearing the real thing.  It looks magical.

The green lining fabric feels very soft and the cloak has a nice simple hook and eye fastening at the neckline. Of course, it is the green lining that makes the magic happen.

How to disappear

Of course, this is the big question.

With a free app and the green lining in the cloak, you can very simply disappear. With a bit of luck and the right light, you can actually get the patterned side to disappear too!

Once you have downloaded the app and created an account, you can add in the authentication code for your cloak. You will find this on your instructions.

Because we all want to get a chance to play with it, it is great to see that you can register the cloak with up to 3 devices. This means you won’t have to hand your phone around to everyone who wants a turn. They can it registered to their own Wow! Stuff account.

In order for the magic to work and for you to turn invisible, your camera on your phone will disregard anything it sees as green. So just be careful on your choice of clothing!

An award-winning design

We have been to the Harry Potter Studio Tour a couple of times and, on our second visit, Grace got her hands on the Elder Wand. Now we have the Invisibility Cloak too, so all we need to get our hands on now is the Sorcerer’s Stone!

The cloak was recently awarded Innovative Toy of the Year at Sweden’s toy awards, it’s very first recognition – and it is easy to see why.

The cloak is suitable for fans aged 6 years and over. The Wow! Stuff app works with devices running iOS 11 and above for iPhone and iPad, and Android 5.0 and above for Android devices.

The Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak is developed by Wow! Stuff in collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, and is available now from Smyths, Argos and Hamleys. You can also order it via Amazon Prime for a competitive price.
