Review: Andy and The Band Exclusive Premiere

In what seems like forever ago now, we were invited to the Andy and the Band Premiere which was to take place at The Royal Institution in London. Unable to attend, we were able to offer up our space to my sister and my 4 year old nephew. It was particularly great to be able to offer to him as an early birthday gift.

About the premiere

Over 300 press, influencers, bloggers and excited fans descended on London’s Royal Institution on Saturday 29 February for the exclusive premiere of the brand-new TV Show, Andy and the Band, fronted by CBeebies superstar Andy Day.

Available to watch exclusively on BBC iPlayer the new series has been picked up for 15 episodes and will follow the mischievous adventures of Andy and the Band as they make their way around the UK, tackling weird and wonderful Odd Jobs sent to them by fans-in-need! Whether it’s helping a fan achieve a life goal; or helping them find a lost object or simply by solving a mystery, whatever the reason, the band is there to help! And all in time to get back on the road and onwards to the next performance. No mission is too big, too small or too…. odd!

Woven into a colourful world of characters – which sees Andy rocking out as the bands front man; Rio from Planet Rock on guitar; mega Moxy on drums; cool Blu on bass and crazy Cousin Mac on the keys – the show will also showcase energeticsongs that hold a message of acceptance and encouragement for all those, young and old.

Davina and my nephew, Henry, were in attendance and these are my sister’s thoughts:

On Saturday 29th of February, we made that extra day count with an exclusive live launch of the new CBeebies show, Andy and the Band!

Henry and I headed up by train bright and early for the 9.15am start, full of excitement and anticipation for the chance to feature on live TV! When we arrived we were treated to coffee, fresh orange juice and pastries, whilst Henry donned his odd socks and BBC Andy and the Band lanyard beaming with pride!

On our entry to the intimate auditorium in the infamous Royal Institute of London, we were greeted by none other than DODGE and couldn’t resist a cheeky photo. We took our seats and it wasn’t long before the legend that is Andy Day (starstruck!!) and his band took to the stage!!

Our #wheresthebutton live link to CBeebies was scheduled for 10.30 so we spent the next 20mins participating in rehearsals, enjoying exclusive previews of some of the bands new material and it wasn’t long before the entire audience was up dancing! The live link soon arrived and Henry was fascinated by all the cameras and crew doing their bit to make it the success it was. It was the second time the channel had ever done a live link and it was such a memorable event for us both to be a part of.

Once the official stuff was done with, Andy and the Band continued to entertain us all before we were treated to an exclusive preview of the first two shows in the new series and Henry was glued to the screen, so it’s no surprise he watched the remaining 10 episodes in the series the minute he got home!!

Our morning ended with the opportunity to meet and take photos with the band and Henry still keeps telling anyone who will listen that he met the ‘real life Andy’ and was on ‘real life telly’. As we departed we were given a sample of their new album (out 3rd April) and I can honestly say that I have loved listening to it in the car with the kids – my personal favourite being ‘Save all the Animals’.
