Prose for Thought – The Life of Pie

Welcome everyone to this week’s Prose for Thought. Thank you to the lovely creative people who linked up last week, I always love to take some time out with a cup of tea to sit and read all the poems that link up.

As most of you know tomorrow night I shall be in a rather posh hotel in a rather posh dress eating rather posh food with lots of other bloggers. It is MAD Blog Awards night and, in case you hadn’t seen me banging on about it, I am one of the finalists. I am not writing about that this week though – I am saving that for next Thursday.

Today I am writing about someone I met yesterday who inspired me. Her name is Camilla Stephens and she is the founder of Higgidy. Her story from getting her Diploma at Leiths School of Food and Wine to how she became a founder member of Higgidy was really motivating. We had a wonderful day and I met some bloggers who were new to me and one, Marianne, who I sat next to for lunch twice in two days! (we must continue meeting like that!).

I also noticed that over on their site, Higgidy have a poetry section 🙂 So, this poem is for you Camilla. May you long continue your fantastic work which you quite rightly have such a passion for.

A Life of Pie

Not knowing which direction to take
Little did she know it was to bake
She worked hard and got her diploma
To one day become a business owner
On to cater for the Orient Express
But still she wanted more success
Good Housekeeping – junior to Cookery Ed
But ‘I still want more’ to herself she said
Then, an article which could have missed her
Meant she became a coffee barista
On to dealing with their suppliers
But became corporate so she aimed higher
Of Higgidy she became a founder
No longer did she have to flounder
What is for you won’t pass you by
Now she’s living the life of pie
