Prose for Thought – A Poetry Linky (#Prose4T)

Welcome one and all to the first week of a new linky entitled ‘Prose for Thought’. This is a page for all the budding prose and poetry writers amongst us to share our creative scribblings with each other and those out there on the far reaching internet.  All you do is select a piece of original prose or poetry written by you and link it up below.  The piece can be on any theme and written at any time in your life; from small child up to present day. It would be great to know the story behind it if you feel like sharing that too. Don’t forget to share the comment love and use #Prose4T when tweeting about your post. You can grab a badge for your sidebar below.

The first poem I am going to share was written back in April 1998. Due to circumstances beyond my control, and for reasons I cannot go into, I was forced into a termination. This took place on 2nd January 1998. Spookily, my ‘Little Angel’ came back to me on 2nd January 2007 to give me closure, but I wrote this poem as a release and, at the time, it was cathartic to me. It gave me some sense of peace about what had happened. I hope that sharing this poem will help anyone in a similar position to the one I was in, or help parents who have suffered a miscarriage or a child born asleep.

Little Angel

Now I know I won’t see your face

But I know you’ve gone to a better place

Your angelic smile and beautiful eyes

Are now the stars shining in the night skies

I will miss you so very much

Though I never got to feel your touch

My Little Angel, sleep peacefully dear

Heaven will hold you near

My Little Angel, play happily dear

Now you know theres nothing to fear

I won’t hear your voice, comfort you when you cry

But the spoils of this world will pass you by

You won’t ever know the troubles of life

Nor hear any words that cut like a knife

You will see no war or people in pain

Just rainbows through sunshine after the rain

My Little Angel, sleep peacefully dear

Heaven will hold you near

My Little Angel, play happily dear

Now you know theres nothing to fear

So take care of my child, oh angels above

Please tell the little one of all of my love

And even though I never had your face to see

I can feel each day you watch over me

I won’t know of the happiness you’d have brought

But you will always be there, somewhere in my thoughts

My Little Angel, sleep peacefully dear

Heaven will hold you near

My Little Angel, play happily dear

Now you know theres nothing to fear

  3. I’m so sorry for what you’ve had to go through. I’m also glad that we live in a country where we can have some control over our reproduction. No doubt one day we’ll live in a country that realises women are grown ups and can make decisions about their lives.
