Making Weaning Easy with Vital Baby

When Grace was a baby, there were a few innovative products around but I was never aware of the Vital Baby range. Fast forward 10 years and I am now fully aware of them and how much they are making weaning easy for both me and for Rex. We have already reviewed the 2-in-1 Steam and Blend and I was very happy when they recently sent me some more of their range. Their products are not only colourful but clever too! Not only for use at home, but when we are on the go, Vital Baby seem to have thought of everything necessary when it comes to weaning.

Here, in no particular order, are the products we love and use on a regular basis.

The Unbelievabowl Travel Suction Bowl – 2 Pack

I have to admit that I have used suction bowls before and was rather put off by them – mainly due to the fact that they never did what they said on the tin! This one does – with a vengeance. The Unbelievabowl comes with a separate suction pad, two colour co-ordinated bowls, a feeding spoon and a clip-on lid with hygienic spoon cover in which to store the spoon. This makes it so much easier to take around with you – and we are looking forward to taking it to Spain with us at the end of May.

I have found that it really helps with the baby led weaning side of Rex’s eating. We are doing a combination of baby led and feeding him ourselves. I have found that Rex can have a bit of a tantrum if cannot do things for himself – and it can land up with the bowl and it’s contents on the floor. Thankfully the Unbelievabowl combats this!

All you do is stick the suction pad onto a suitable surface (it may not perform on natural wood or textured synthetic wood, stone, textured or porous surfaces.) and then lift and push down the suction handle, then lock the bowl into place on the suction pad. Easy!

The Warm-a-Bowl

One of the biggest issues I have experienced since weaning Rex is having restaurants and pubs heat up Rex’s food. It really has been a big headache. They seem to take forever to bring us some hot water and then, when they do, the receptacle they bring it in just isn’t suitable. Most of the time I end up feeding him his jar of food cold. The places which offer microwaves are few and far between!

So, I ordered the Warm-a-Bowl and it certainly seems to be helping – at least with half of the issue. The water might still take a long time but at least we have something to put his food into to keep it warm.

Again, it is simple and easy to use. You just add warm water to the bowl’s thermal base and the food will remain warm whilst feeding. The warm water is neatly contained in the base, which is secured with a special cap for extra peace of mind. The Warm-a-Bowl is also easy to hold because of its triangular shape.

With Rex being so keen to feed himself, I sometimes tend to give him a food pouch and let him handle it himself. The Ella’s Kitchen Weaning Spoon tips for the pouches mean that he feels even more in control. T

They come complete with a case, which means they stay clean – and then keep everything else clean once they have been used. They have a shallow bowl for tiny mouths and are made from flexible, soft material that is gentle so that if you have to scoop up any food, you know that your little one will not be in any discomfort.

No More Mess Trap-a-Snack

Whenever I used to give Grace snacks when she was small, the majority of the time they would end up on the floor! Vital Baby’s No More Mess Trap-a-snack makes this whole scenario so much easier for Rex. So whether we are at home or out and about, the clever trap-a-snack gives Rex the independence he so desperately wants meaning that his food will not end up on the floor accidentally. The soft slatted lid makes it easy for Rex to use and the SoftGrip™ handle is perfectly sized. I do wish I had this one 10 years ago!

Aquaint Sanitising Water

One of the biggest problems I have always had is trying to keep things clean when we are at home but more especially, when we are out.

The Vital Baby Aquaint Sanitising Water is a revolutionary 100% natural cleansing water that kills 99.9% of bacteria quickly and easily. All you need to do is spray it onto any surface (even if it is going into the mouth) and it is sanitised! Because it is natural, there isn’t any need to rinse or wipe. Apart from water, the only other ingredient is Hypochlorous Acid is produced in the human body to help fight bacteria and germs. This is what gives it its antibacterial properties. The 50ml bottle is a very handy size and is easily transportable.

Soft Spout Baby’s First Tumbler

It wasn’t easy to find a cup for Rex and we tried quite a few until we reached this tumbler. I am pleased to say that Rex finds this one easy to drink from. It has a really soft spout and, thanks to a special valve, you can either have it as non-spill or free flowing. We use on non-spill at the moment as Rex finds the slower flow easier and it stops it from choking. There is also an easy grip base meaning that Rex finds it easier to hold onto. It comes with a spout cover for when it is not in use.

Stainless Steel Cutlery Set

Rex isn’t quite ready for cutlery yet but, when he is, I am really pleased that we have stuck with Vital Baby and their familiar colours for a lightweight 3 piece Stainless Steel Baby Cutlery Set. I believe that this will help build his confidence and encourage his self-feeding.

The set set is large and has chunky, easy to grip handles with finger and thumb locators to make sure that he learns how to hold them correctly.
