A Clearout with Clearabee

When Rex came along we knew that we would be inundated with baby paraphernalia. I don’t think Ross really realised the extent of it – until it happened – but he has been wanting to chuck out a lot of unwanted items for quite sometime. When a clearout with Clearabee was offered to us in return for a review of their service, it couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time.

Clearabee and their clearance packages

Clearabee is the first and largest company in the UK to offer a nationwide on-demand rubbish removal service. They don’t contract out and the staff are all employed by them. To give you some idea, they cleared over 20,000 tonnes of household junk during 2017. Their staff are all fully trained and, as a result, you can rest assured that the people who turn up are there to remove and dispose of your rubbish in the proper manner. No illegal fly tipping here!

Clearabee provide two main services:

  • A man and a van. This is a same day booking. All you need to do is book online or over the phone and a Clearabee branded van will come at an agreed time to collect and dispose of your items.
  • Beebags. These are skip bags which can be ordered in advance with next day delivery and same day collection. The benefit of these is that you can leave them outside for collection, which makes them ideal if you are out at work or just out! The largest bag they offer is the same size as a large skip.

Our Clearout

We knew that we had a number of items throughout the house that needed to go. We had already had a bit of a clearout but the tip visits were becoming a bit of a nuisance and rather expensive. We still had a few rooms to go as well as the loft, so we opted for the man and a van option.

We put them on notice over the weekend and booked the clearance in for the Monday. We were told that they offered a one hour window so asked that they turn up between 11.30 and 12.30pm so as not to disturb Rex’s morning nap.

That morning we put most of our rubbish on our drive bar a couple of heavier items which Ross and I couldn’t lift. It wasn’t an issue though as it wasn’t just one man with the van, there were two and they were able to do the heavy lifting.

I received an email and text at around 10.15am to say that the van would be with us at 11.47. Which they stuck to. Richard and Tom then showed up and, before loading the van, they had to take photos of the items and send them through to head office. This means that they knew exactly what was being disposed of and where it was going.

It took them no time to load the van. It was surprising to me how so much junk took up so little space on the van and how good the guys were at tetrising!

Richard and Tom explained to us that they worked all across the South West. They had recently cleared out a large nightclub and managed to fit all the items which needed disposing of onto the same van that they were using for our clearance. The guys were chatty and helpful but didn’t outstay their welcome!

My Thoughts

I have to say that this type of service is invaluable to us. It hadn’t really crossed my mind to look into a clearance service previously. The amount of time and effort it has saved us is fantastic.  The fact that I feel so much better having had a clearout and given us more space is a huge weight off my mind.

The staff at Clearabee have been communicative and professional at all times. They have kept us informed all along the way without us having to chase them and I am only too happy to recommend them.

We were provided with a complimentary clearance in return for a review of the Clearabee service. Please note that all words, images and opinions have been formed by the owner of this blog.
