An Interview with Go West at Rewind Festival 2013

Go West – and that’s me in the background!

At this year’s Rewind Festival, thanks to Ross and the Reading Chronicle, I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to interview Peter Cox and Richard Drummie, the duo collectively known as Go West.

As many of you know, I have written previously about first meeting Go West and then Peter again at his solo gig at the Highbarn last December. I have long since enjoyed the music they write and perform together and continue to do so after all these years. Their writing is timeless and Peter’s voice has just got better over the years. Richard has even ventured into the singing arena too over this past year and his song, White Water, is one of my favourite Go West tunes.

Below is both the video and audio version of the interview – the audio being just a touch longer!

Following their interviews, Go West went on stage at around 7.30pm on the Sunday to perform to the crowds at Rewind 2013. Their set consisted of:

  • Don’t Look Down
  • Call Me
  • Tracks of My Tears
  • We Close Our Eyes
  • Sex on Fire
  • King of Wishful Thinking
As ever, they were professional to the hilt and Ross and I agreed, in a completely unbiased way, that their performance was our favourite. Below are some images from their set. All photographs were taken by friend and photographer, Tim Bastock, who kindly gave me permission to use them.

Further information about Go West can be found on their website: http://www.gowest.org.uk/ and they are both on Twitter – @peterjohncox and @richarddrummie

  2. Oh gosh, I had a moment similar to the one I just had when someone shared a photo of Andrew Ridgeley as he is now with me. Sounds like you had a lot of fun.
