A Song for the Weekend #29 – Hakuna Matata from The Lion King

I can really remember going to see The Lion King at the cinema when it first came out. I was with a group of friends and we were all amazed by the songs, story and beauty of Disney’s work on this film. The opening number, Circle of Life, is one that resonated with me the most.

But, what I really needed, after the week I have had is an upbeat, sing your cares away kind of song. The kind that you can sing along to really, really loudly. So this week, it had to be Hakuna Matata. It does make you forget your worries – if only for a moment – and is one that I put on when I need cheering up (not that I really need that today, I am in a very productive mood!).

I hope it helps you if you need it!

  1. From the very first time I saw the Lion King, this was my very favourite song. It’s quite often in my head. And anyone who reads my blog regularly knows that Pumba has a very special place in my heart – and in our family!
It was only when I had kids and put the DVD on for them (actually it was a video!) that I realised how well I knew the Lion King – I knew practically every word of the script! I must have watched it rather a lot in my early 20s.
