Review: Veggie Adventures: Mr Broccoli by Natasha Rose Mills
* Please note that I was compensated for this post. All opinions remain my own*
It is amazing what sticks with small children, isn’t it? That is one of the reasons I really like Veggie Adventures: Mr Broccoli. It is the first book by Natasha Rose Mills, in what appears to be the first of a very teachable new series.

Who is Mr Broccoli?
Mr Broccoli is the first in a series of books on nutrition using a variety of fun and imaginative vegetable superhero characters. Natasha has introduced them in a bid to teach children life lessons and the importance of eating greens.
Jacob feels sad, fed up and upset with his friends when the strong, colourful and very positive Mr Broccoli steps in to save the day. Explaining to Jacob the magical powers of vegetables, Jacob eats his greens becoming healthier, happier and strong again. It puts him in a better mindset and gives him the ability to handle situations at school in a more positive manner.

What Life Lessons Will it Teach?
This book is the first in a collection of short stories promoting health, respect and wellbeing in children aged five years and over BUT it did resonate with Rex, who is 3 years old (more of that in a moment).
The book does target it’s audience really well with bold and simple, easy-to-read words and an captivating storyline aimed specifically at a child’s imagination. The colourful cartoons (by talented artist Ramile Imac) are really memorable and eye-catching on every page and help in bringing the vivid characters to life.

Not only will it teach children how to handle difficult circumstances, but it also helps them understand the importance of eating healthy food. There is even a list of fun facts about broccoli at the back of the book. Rex has already taken much from this. One morning he was taking his gummy bear vitamin which I explained to him had Vitamin C in. He then turned to me and said ‘Mr Broccoli has Vitamin C and it makes me strong!’.
I am looking forward to the next instalment – The See in the Dark Gang!
