A Guide to Buying Kid’s Clothes Online

With the lockdown in full force, one of the things I have had to turn my mind to is buying kids clothes online. I am a little old-fashioned in wanting to take the kids round the shops to find things which both suit them and fit them. My biggest quandry is shoe shopping. Especially for Rex as I have no clue what size he currently is!
I am hoping that this guide will help you as much as it has helped me in buying children’s wear from the internet!

Buy from a Trusted Source
I always find that if I compromise on quality then I always regret it. I would rather buy clothes that the kids wear than purchase something which just sits in the cupboard and never gets worn. With this in mind, quality clothing companies such as Frugi*, always use cotton. This is generally the most popular material because it is the least likely to contain harmful substances and is good on delicate skin.
Make sure it is Financially Viable
At the moment, money is tight. If you find yourself in that position but are still needing to purchase your children some clothing then you may want to consider spreading the cost. This is where no credit check catalogue companies come in handy. It means that customers have the opportunity to purchase on finance and either pay later or spread the cost.
Find out About Their Returns Policy
It isn’t always easy to judge the sizing on your child – especially as some stores differ in how they present their items. The best thing to do is make sure that you are fully informed about how you can return anything which doesn’t fit as well as how you can get your money back.
Usually clothes, bought online, could be sent back within a 2-week period but I am finding that companies like John Lewis* and Sainsburys are offering an extended returns period.
Measure Your Kids Feet from Home
You can actually work out the size of your kid’s feet from home. All you need to do is use a ruler to measure from the outside of the heel to the tip of the big toe on both feet – make sure you do this when they are standing up! Also, ensure you do both feet as you may find they are different sizes as they grow.
Once done, you can write the number down in inches or centimetres and label it as length. Then you can do similar for the width. Sites like Clarks have a great guide to help you.
If you are Uncertain, Go Large
Finally, if you really are unsure then the best option is to buy a slightly bigger size. Even if they can’t wear it right now, you can be sure that it will fit them at a later stage. Especially when we all know just how fast they can grow! cannot wear clothes now, at a later stage, these clothes will certainly be appropriate for him!
